The sky was as deep as never before, and the air was still as crisp. The shadows of evil lurked over everything in its way, like a fog, a darkness that would not leave until it ruined all that was good, more innocent lives that could be spared the fate of being corrupted by the wickedness that had taken root.

An instant stream of the morning sun shot forth, piercing the misty gloom with light like an angel's sword, and waking up the boy who lay sprawled on the mattress, his eyes half open at first, but soon becoming fully opened once he noticed the brightness flooding his room. His lips parted to let a small gasp escape through them, but he didn't move for a while. Instead, he just gazed upon the scene in wonderment, like the sunrise in the middle of a painting, a sight so beautiful that he couldn't help but stare, even if the beauty made him feel as though he were going to be sick from it all.

He closed his eyes for a moment, feeling another body lying next to him, a warm, soft body, and he sighed happily. It was such a lovely day. A perfect day. No clouds or rain today, no storms or thunderstorms; just pure sunshine with every bit of breeze blowing through. There were no voices, not even the annoying chatter of birds, only the gentle chirping of cicadas. This must've been heaven. Or something very close to heaven.

But then again...

It was too good to last.

Taehyun felt the strong smell of blood permeating the air around him, the metallic stench burning his nostrils, seeping into his brain, and turning everything red. A frown tugged the corners of his lips downward as he raised himself a bit with his elbows and looked down at the bed, his heart stopping the moment his eyes came across the terrifying sight before him.

Blood splattered everywhere - the bedsheets, the pillow, the carpet. Yeonjun lay unconscious beside him as his shirt was completely drenched in red liquid exactly like Taehyun's hands which were shaking so badly, they threatened to rip the fabric right off his chest. He couldn't tell how long he'd stayed paralyzed staring at the scene that played before him, watching everything with a kind of morbid fascination that made cold tears form behind his eyes as he trembled like a scared puppy, trying desperately not to vomit right in front of Yeonjun's face.

"H... Hyung..."

The deadly sounds of the police sirens broke the silence, drowning the sound of Taehyun's ragged breathing and leaving him trembling uncontrollably. He flinched as his wide eyes fixed on the window as if he would see something from there, but nothing appeared other than an empty backyard in his vision. However, the sirens weren't stopping, in fact, they were getting closer - and getting louder and louder. Taehyun clenched the sheets tighter in fear as tremors wracked his whole body.

Feeling panic consume his whole being, he jumped off the bed and bolted out of the door without so much as looking back. His heart was beating frantically within his chest as he stumbled towards the staircase leading downwards, and his legs refused to support his weight, his vision getting darker and darker as each step he took made him more nauseous than the one before it. Everything seemed so far away when he reached the bottom of the stairs, the world seeming to have become fuzzy and indistinct, making the surroundings seem almost surreal.
