The villa was filled with joy and celebration. The air in the living room was thick with laughter, the scent of coffee mingled with the fragrance of flowers that had been placed here and there around the living room to create a lovely contrast against the stark white walls.
It was Taehyun's birthday and even though no one was in a mood for celebration after going through so much disaster recently, they still tried to make the atmosphere lighter for themselves and Taehyun as well, wanting to cheer up the boy a little. Yeonjun's parents were there as well since they decided to spend some time with the boys to make sure they'd be okay after everything they experienced. They were taking care of not only Yeonjun, but Taehyun too and treating him as their own son knowing the boy had brutally lost his own parents. So they all put on happy faces even if they were still feeling down in spirit due to the whole incident. They were acting like nothing was wrong as they laid the table with everyone's favorite dishes and poured them drinks into the champagne glasses that already sat on it.
Everyone acted happy, It was just Taehyun who seemed slightly down as he sat in his wheelchair in Yeonjun's and his bedroom and looking out of the window with dejected eyes as if the weight of the world lay on his shoulders alone, as if he was feeling guilty about what happened to everyone. He hadn't really spoken since the morning and now he was sitting quietly and staring at nowhere while everyone gathered around to celebrate his birthday, including Yeonjun's grandparents and Taehyun's friends from the university. Everyone was excited and having fun, laughing and joking amongst each other. But Taehyun didn't seem to have any energy left in him, it was almost like he wasn't even able to join the party and he just wanted to be alone in his room where he could think without distraction or anyone bothering him.
Taehyun didn't even move a muscle when the door cracked open and he heard footsteps approaching him. His eyes remained fixed on a point in front of him, unmoving, his body rigid like marble except for his trembling arms that was resting on the armrests of the wheelchair, trying to stop them from shaking. He didn't notice when someone approached him from behind, leaning over him until a soft voice whispered "Hey, bambi...," and then a warm touch on his cheek made his head snap to the side instinctively, his eyesight focusing on a pair of chocolate brown doe eyes framed by long, dark eyelashes that reminded him of a forest in summer.
Yeonjun looked concerned and worried, seeing how Taehyun seemed to be struggling with something, but he tried not to let it show on his face and seem joyful to the younger instead, "Are you feeling alright?" He asked softly with a gentle smile on his lips.
Taehyun gave a small nod, blinking away the moisture gathering at his dark green eyes and averting his gaze back at the spot ahead of him, looking unbothered by anything happening next to him, as if nothing was troubling him whatsoever. But it was obvious on his face that he had so many things on his mind. Yeonjun's heart ached seeing him like this.
