I met Drea by the benches outside the cafeteria. I shouted her name and she looked over her shoulder. She jumped up, squealing when she saw me walking up. I opened my arms for her, lifting her small body off the ground, and she wrapped her legs around my waist."I haven't seen you in like forever!" She said right into my ear, "Not since the whole cookie situation." She giggled. Or the Eric sucking my dick in the storage closet situation. I'd rather remember it that way.
I swayed her a couple times before placing her back on the grass, "How you been, girl?"
"Training as usual." She twirled, showing that she was wearing her usual sports bra and leggings.
"I thought track was a summer sport." I said. Her smile fell into a blank look of disappointment, "What?"
Drea placed her hand over her chest, "You poor, poor, unathletic child. It's not and even if it was I train all year round, stupid."
I rolled my eyes, "Yeah, because running is that fucking hard."
Her mouth dropped. "You wouldn't fucking know. Just cause your legs long, don't mean shit." She pushed her knee against mine.
I scoffed, "Don't embarrass yourself." Her eyebrows shot to her forehead.
"Embarrass myself!? That's it. Get up," She stood, "Right now." She pulled my arm harshly, but I ain't move so she tugged again, "Gavin! Get up right now!"
I laughed, it was like playing tug-o-war with a puppy. She was way too easy to rile up. "And where we going?"
Drea finally dropped my arm, "To the fucking field. So I can smoke you." She turned on her heels and started marching off. I watched her get a couple steps ahead.
"Drea!" I laughed, chasing behind her. She wanna fucking power walk and shit. Her locs were swishing side to side and her little butt was bouncing with every every damn step.
There's no way I'm doing this. I glared down at the red, rubber turf. Numbers painted on them and I didn't know what any of this shit meant.
"Oh, you're doing this." She said, chuckling. I rubbed my forehead, I really need to stop thinking out loud before that shit gets me in trouble.
"Awe, look we even have a audience to watch you lose." She said snarkingly. I looked at her confused, "Gavin." She groaned and pointed in the direction of the stands. I followed her finger and I could've dropped dead right here.
"Fuck me." I cursed, "What are they doing here? Class on the track field? Since when is that a thing?"
At the far end of the bleachers were a group of about twelve students and one teacher. They were all dressed in gym clothes and amongst those faces were Hudson and Eric. That's just my luck ain't it.
They were sitting next to each other surprisingly and their heads turned in our direction. Hudson, who was hunched over, perked up and waved. I didn't wave back.
Drea shrugged her shoulders, "Sometimes health classes like to be outside. Looks like they're getting done class now, though."
"Shouldn't they go inside. Learning about bones and shit." I groaned.
She giggled, "What? You scared you gonna lose in front of your little friends." She started stretching her arms and then down to touch her toes. Oh, she was serious as fuck. Should I start stretching? I did what she did.
"Yup, that's definitely it." I lied, laughing awkwardly. Drea was right about the class ending, because not even a minute later they started walking down the steps. Well, except Hudson. His dumbass started skipping down every other step and ran towards us.
"Gavin! You didn't see me wave? I totally waved at you, man!" Hudson shouted from the other side of the fence. I saw Eric trailing slowly behind him like a normal person.
"Hi, roommate-in-law." Drea snickered when we got close.
Hudson's smile got even bigger, "Hey! What are y'all doing here?"
"Gavin, here," She smacked my chest, "Was talking shit so I have to show him I'm the better runner."
"First of all, I wasn't talking shit. All I said was running wasn't hard. Which it ain't."
"Ooh, I wanna watch this." Hudson wiggled his eyebrows and jogged towards the fence entrance.
"Eric! What's up?" Drea said when he finally reached us. Eric reached over the fence and pulled her into a hug. We made eye contact over her shoulder. I winked at him and his lips pulled up into a smirk.
"Same shit, different day."
Drea leaned off the fence, "Bro, you're literally a beast now! Like what the fuck, me and Amy were like cheering the whole time." I looked between the two of them confused.
"Yeah!" Hudson agreed. He was there, too? So they just been going to Eric's football games and not telling me about it, that's rude as fuck. I wouldn't have said yes anyway but still.
I crossed my arms and glared at them, "Why wasn't I invited? When was this."
"The Saturday before last I think." Drea said, "Yeah, Because I missed last weeks."
Hudson hands came down and patted my shoulders, "You don't even understand the game, buddy."
"Right, but that don't matter." I rubbed my chin, "A bunch of men in tight ass pants slamming into each other?" I bit my bottom lip, "I think my dick hard."
Eric's hand shot forward and punched me. Not gentle, either.
"Ouch! My bad,"I rubbed my arm, laughing. I wouldn't have made it anyway, I was too busy preparing for the whole open mic night thing.
Eric gripped the fence and hopped over it with ease.
"I could've did that!" Hudson said, "I could've totally did that, right, Gavin?" He looked at Drea and I, but I quickly shook my head. He would've landed face first. I'm shocked he can even walk in a straight line.
Drea clapped her hands. She was vibrating with excitement, jumping from foot to foot. "Okay! Enough talking, we running or what?"
I scratched back of my neck. This track was big as fuck and I really didn't feel like doing this shit. I looked at Eric for help and this nigga just shrugged his shoulders.
"I'm not running the whole thing." I told her. She nodded. We walked back to the turf.
"Alright. Just to the end of the bleachers and back, yeah?" That's not too bad.
"Bet." We both put one foot on the white line and got in position. Eric counted down from three. We took off.
