Tony walked through the remains of the Compound before finding an unconscious Steve, "Come on, buddy. Wake up." Steve gasped as he woke up, and Tony said, "That's my man."

"Yeah, your divorce is definitely over," Natasha snickered.

Tony and Steve rolled their eyes, and Pepper snorted.

Tony held out the shield. "You lose this again; I'm keeping it."

Tony smirked.

"What happened?" Steve asked as he looked around. "We messed with time. It tends to mess back." Tony said as he helped Steve up, "You'll see."

Tony sighed. That was true, and now they were going to witness a shitshow.

Thor was standing at an opening in the rubble. Steve and Tony walked next to him to see Thanos sitting on a rock, with his sword planted next to him and his helmet on it.

Everyone hissed at the sight of Thanos.

"What's he been doing?" Tony asked. "Absolutely nothing," Thor said.

"Waiting for us," Steve realized.

"Where are the Stones?" Steve asked.

Everyone tensed. Thanos didn't need to get all the Stone for a second time.

"Lost somewhere under all this." Tony said, "All I know is he doesn't have 'em." "So, we keep it that way," Steve said. "You know it's a trap, right?" Thor asked. "Yeah..." Tony said, "I don't much care."

"We're ending him for real this time," Tony snarled.

"Good." Thor said, "Just as long as we're all in agreement." Thor raised both his hands as lightning flashed in his eyes and cracked in the sky, darkened by the explosion's smoke. Stormbreaker flew into his right hand and Mjolnir into his left as lightning emanated from him. Thor's beard turned into a kempt one and his armour formed around him along with his cape.

Sam let out a low whistle in appreciation, Bucky and Scott's eyes were wide, Peter's jaw dropped, and Quill was slightly jealous.

"I like the whole Viking look," said Tony. "It suits you."

"The hammer and the axe?" Clint said with a raised eyebrow. "Well, we're going to need it."

"Let's kill him properly this time," Thor said.

"Don't worry," Thor said, solemnly. "I'll aim for the head this time."

The three marched towards him as one, slowly spreading out to surround him. Thanos looked at them and announced, "You could not live with your own failure. Where did that bring you? Back to me."

"You're the one who came to us," Rhodey said incredulously.

The three slowly surrounded Thanos as he said, "I thought by eliminating half of life, the other half would thrive. But you've shown me that's impossible."

"Obviously, it's impossible," said Bucky. "It's fucking stupid."

"Yeah, I didn't see much thriving before," Sam said sarcastically.

Peter agreed. "Just trauma."

"And as long as there are those that remember what was, there will always be those that are unable to accept what can be." Thanos announced, "They will resist."

"Of course, we'll resist when half of the universe is dead," sneered Steve.

"Yep. We're all kinds of stubborn." Tony said. "I'm thankful. Because now, I know what I must do." Thanos said as he threw the rock away.
