18. Talks

I open the door to my room and smile looking at the space. It has been only two days but I already feel relaxed as I step inside. All the guests have already left the house except dadu and dadi. They have been living with tau ji in the old house of theirs.

I walk inside and close the gate of my room and get in my bed and wrap the blanket around me finally feeling at home after two days. I lie down and start using my phone as I am not sleepy right now. I will sleep but maybe later, I think as I try to find something interesting on my phone.

I hear a knock on my door and reply with a come in. The door opens and mummy walks in with a plate in her hands. I peek a little and see that see bought fruits for me. I shift to give mummy space to seat and she smiles at me.

"Here" she said passing me the plate as she sat down next to me on the bed. I eat a slice of apple and and look at mummy.

"How was your first day there" mummy asked holding my hand and I smiled as I saw a little worry on her face

"It was nice. I already knew the main family so it was normal. I wasn't uncomfortable there" I said with a little smile on my face and I saw her smile too

"That's good though we already know the family well but we were still concerned about you" she said and I hugged her. I missed mummy and papa the most there.

"Did they all treat you well" she asked as we parted away from the hug and I looked at her with narrowed eyes and my lips in a bit of a smile.

"Yes, mummy they treated me well for the whole one day I was there" I said and she shook her head at me with a smile

"I meant was Arjun and his parents nice to you. I know people change when they become husbands and in laws" she said and I nodded my head. Though I have not seen toxic couples or in laws in my house I have heard enough stories from the relatives

"No mummy, they all were nice and pretty much the same till now" I said as I picked up another slice of apple from the plate

"Anyways I don't have to live with them all" I said shrugging and saw mummy give me a look and I bit my lip. Did I say something wrong? I though as I looked her expressions

"You don't have to live with them but it doesn't mean that you will not care for them" she said in a stern voice and I nodded my head instantly. I was never thinking about neglecting anyone even in my mind.

"I will not do that. You already know me well" I said giving mummy a smile and she nodded her head

"I know but I always want you to treat your in laws with respect and love" she said and I nodded my head at her. I don't know when our talks changed to goofy laughter from my marriage and in laws but it was fun. I am really going to miss these talks in the future.

I change into a pair of comfortable pj's and get in my bed again. I have had my dinner and now I am finally thinking of sleeping because I was not able to sleep in the afternoon and I ended up spending time with mummy and dadu and dadi.

I spent some time with everyone at the dinner. Papa had to leave for his office as soon as we reached here from Arjun's house as he had some important work and I couldn't spend a lot of time with him which i would have loved to do. I hear my phone ringing and pick it up to only see Priyanka calling me.

"Hello" I said answering the call with a smile

"Naviiii" she said in a cheerful tone and my smile became bigger.

"Priiii" I said matching her cheerful tone and heard her giggle from the other side

"You are back at your own house" she said or I think asked

"Yeah, I came back in the afternoon only and it felt good to be back here" I said and hear a hmm from here

"So how was your first day at your in laws" she asked and I smiled remembering my conversation with mummy in the morning about the the same

"It was normal just had to talk with a lot of new people" I said and heard her hum from the other night

"And the night" she asked with playfulness in her tone and I shook my head at her habits

"It was normal too" I said with a smile on my face because I know she is not going to like this answer

"What? Didn't you both do anything" she asked and I chuckled

"We did do something" I said thinking of irritating her more and stop her habit of asking such personal questions

"What" she asked excited and I shook my head

"We talked and then slept like two proper adults beside each other maintaining some space" I said and heard a audible gasp from her side

"You really are so unromantic. I feel bad for jiju" she said and I made a face

"You know Rithik and I really broke the bed on out first night after marriage and you know" she said and I stopped before she gave me any details about her first night. That is the last thing I want to hear

"No more details please. I don't want to hear" I said cutting in between and she stopped talking

"Besides yours was a love marriage and ours is an arranged marriage. There is a difference" I said and I could literally feel she was disappointed in me as her best friend

"Bichare(poor) Jiju" she said and I shook my head again. I feel like this has been a routine of us since college her saying something nonsensical and me shaking my head

"Good night" I said irritated with her nonsense though I was in no mood of sleeping and instead I really wanted to gossip

"No, I want to talk" she said in a whiny tone

"Talk with your husband" I said with a slight smile on my face

"He is not at home right now. He had some work in his office today" she said and I nodded my head and we continued our talking.

I kept my phone down after talking with Priyanka for almost an hour and saw a lone message from him but a smile came on my face nonetheless.

Good night 😴

He had messaged and and I smiled as I typed back the same message to him and kept my phone aside as I was finally feeling a bit sleepy now.
