25. Where were you?

I open the door to the house and enter inside very tired as it has been a long day today. I literally took about 12 interviews today and I only found three people worth investing and hired them today only and then I explained some of my work to them.

All in all I am very tired and just want to sleep. I thought as I walked towards the room and get inside and spiraled on the bed but bot before changing and getting clean. I open my phone and see it's only 6 and Arjun will be back at around 7:30 as usual.

I close my eyes and drift into sleep after only some time. I wake up by my phone ringing and sit up to see mummy calling and answer it still lying down and a very sleepy voice.

"Hello" I said answering in a very sleepy voice and my eyes still feeling heavy. I don't know why am I feeling so tired after working for just one day.

"Are you sleeping early today?" Mummy asked and I shook my head before opening my mouth

"No, I just had some interviews today so I am very tired" I said slowly and opened my eyes properly now

"Oh, okay. Damad ji(son in law) is home?" She asked and I shook my head as I sat up on the bed

"No but he will come in some time" I said and looked at the watch in the room and my eyes widened as I saw it was almost 9 in the night now.

"Mummy I will call you later" I said to mummy as I stood up from the bed in a hurry and went outside to see if for any chance he is here and I didn't wake up and he used the other key to open the door

"Okay beta" mummy said and I disconnecting the call when I didn't find him outside and started checking my phone for any message from him. There were no messages or missed calls from me and my heart start beating fast as I dual his number.

His phone comes switched off or out of coverage area and my heartbeat starts to quickens as I seat on the sofa nibbling with my fingers as different scenarios pass in my mind. I try to control my overthinking and head inside the kitchen to cook that he will back.

I finish making the dinner and again dial his number pacing along the living room. His phone again comes as switched off and I throw my phone on the sofa as I see that it's almost 11 on the night and he is still not here and move towards the gate and pick up my car keys.

I stop from opening the door as I realize I don't really know where is his office or I neither have the number of any of his colleagues. I throw my car keys away in frustration as I walk and sit on the bed and start praying to God to keep him safe.

I open my eyes in a jerk and see it is part midnight and stand up and dial Akshit bhaiya's number as I walk towards the door not sure about where I will go but I will for sure now go and find him. I think as Akshit bhaiya doesn't pick up his phone.

I hear the doorbell ring as soon as I find my thrown away car keys and sprint toward the door and open it only to see Arjun standing there all right. No scratch nothing. I took a deep breath of relief and jumped on him to hug him and started crying. I let the tears flow that I was holding from so long.

"Sorry" he muttered against my hair as I pulled him closer in our hug and cried and he walked inside pulling me up from the floor holding on to me tightly.

"Sorry. I am really sorry" he said again as he caressed my hair as he walked inside the door. He turned and closed the door with his legs as he was holding me up with his hands and walked towards the couch holding me

He sat down on the couch and settled me in his lap as I cried hugging his tightly and slowly pressed kisses on his cheek. Thanking God for sending him back home again and that too safely.

"I am sorry for worrying you so much. Please don't cry" he said softly as he moved his finger on my spine and I pushed him away as I got away from hugging him and tried to get off his lap but his hold on my waist only tightened

"Leave me, I don't want to talk to you" I said pushing his chest away from me as he pulled me closer to himself

"I am sorry. I am really sorry. I was busy completing a task and completely lost the track of time" he said and wiped my tears away with the pad of his thumb as he held my face.

"You lost track of time but did you even forget that you had a wife. Who was crazy thinking something happened to you? And where is your phone?" I shouted at him as I glared at him

"How can I ever forget about you? My phone broke today in the morning irning and I am really sorry" he said as he lightly kissed my forehead with a sad expression

"Do you know how worried I was thinking something might have happened to you?" I said giving him a look and trying to move away from him but he kept holding me securely in his arms

"I am really safe and nothing happened to me. I am just an idiot but nothing happened to me" he said trying to make me smile by his silly comment and I just glared at him hard

"Okay fine. I will never do anything like this again and I will learn your number by heart and inform you if I will be going to be late" he said in softer voice caressing my face and I nodded my head and leaned in to kiss his cheeks

"Good. Now give me the number of all your colleagues and the address to your office" I asked putting my hand on his shoulder and he smiled at me

"Why? Will you barge in my office if something like this happens" he asked with a slight chuckle and I looked straight in his eyes

"Ofcourse if there's even a slight chance of you getting hurt. I will barge in anywhere" I said with determination and his smile dropped and he pulled me closer and the next second his lips were on mine and I froze in my place clutching his shoulders tightly.

He sucked my lower lip and moved his lip over it and I looked at his face in shock not really sure of what to do. His eyes were closed and it looked like he was savoring the moment. His hands dug in the side of my waist and I flinched a bit but closed my eyes.

He sucked in both of my lips fir a while before parting away and joining his forehead with mine and I slowly opened my eyes to look into his and saw him smile

"Next time, I want you to kiss me too" he said in a husky tone in my ear and bit my earlobe as I gasped and hid my face in his neck blushing and heard him chuckle.
