After that incident yesterday, I was hesitating if papasok ba ako mamaya. I don't think I'm ready to see her yet, masyado akong nasaktan sa sinabi niya kahapon na gusto ko lang humilata sa kama buong araw.
Sydney also apologized in behalf of her sister, mukhang hindi rin ito sinabi sa kanya na estudyante pala ako ng kapatid niya. And that Ms. Solana already agreed about me working there. Psh, what's stopping her?
I didn't know that she has a sister, well kung iisipin ko nga naman— I never really knew her. The only things I know about her are the basic stuff that one should know, we were close at some point until I decided to confess which fucked everything up.
In the end, pinilit ko na lang ang sarili ko na pumasok sa paaralan dahil ayoko naman isipin niya that I'm irresponsible which proves that I shouldn't be hired. Ang sabi naman ni Sydney, I can work whenever she's at home too. That means after classes ko ay pupunta ako do'n and wait for her.
"Maddison told me about what happened when she saw you at the bar, talagang tinengga mo yung isang bote ng Tequila? Anong naisip mo?"
Napangiwi na lang ako ng sinalubong ako ni Maevis ng dada sa loob ng classroom, 2-in-1 na nga sila ni Ms. Maddi, akala ko pa naman ay hindi niya ako isusumbong.
"A lot of things just happened so I decided to grab a drink."
"Oh ba't di ka nag-aya?"
"Broken ka ba?" I teased na siyang nagpasimangot sa kanya. "I'm older than you, Almonte. Huwag ka mag-alala, tsaka give my thanks to Ms. Maddison, I really appreciate her help that night."
Ginulo niya lang ang buhok ko at bumalik na sa upuan niya. First subject namin ang girlfriend niya kaya naman kita kong ngiting-ngiti ang loko while listening to Ms. Maddi talk about our newest lesson. While I just pretended to listen kasi wala pa rin ako'ng gana ngayon.
Iniisip ko pa rin kung ano ang ikikilos ko dahil susunod na si Ms. Solana, I should be distancing myself away from her but it would be too impossible with the work I got now. And I should be able to do a good job dahil malaking sweldo ang kukunin ko just to keep her company— if she even wants me to do that.
Whatever conversation she had with her sister, hindi ko alam kung ano ang nagpabago ng isip niya. I was kind of expecting that Sydney would apologize for firing me but instead she told me the things that I should be taking notes of when I'm around her sister.
If she only knew that I've been with her a couple of times that I wouldn't be even needing those notes.
"Huy! Tapos na, let's go sa bebe—"
"Not a word, Almonte." I warned her.
"Okay sorry na, 'to naman."
When we entered the next room, she was already there. Her attention on her laptop and not even minding those who just entered the room, but what surprised me is when she took a glance of me at ilang segundo rin niya ako'ng tinitigan bago binalik ang atensyon sa laptop niya.
What's up with her?
Still hurt by what she said yesterday, pinili ko na maupo sa pinaka-likuran which confused Maevis pero sumunod rin naman, ramdam ko na may nakatitig sa'kin but I'd rather not look into that. For sure, siya na naman 'yon.
"Good Morning."
"Good Morning, Professor Clemonte."
She started the discussion and I was diligently taking down some notes on my notebook, not really looking at her.
"Ms. Avila." Rinig kong tawag niya. "Stand up, I'm calling you."
Nanahimik naman ang lahat dahil sa sinabi niya, that made me look at her at kita kong nakatuon lang ang atensyon niya sa'kin while she's sitting at the edge of her table. Naka cross arms rin ito and now I got the full view of her.
