Chapter 102

"Fyna~ There's so many people here for the audition," Grim grumbled as we all stood in a corner surveying all the other hopeful students in the Pomefiore lounge.

Ace peered over all the heads. "There's at least 50 people here."

"That's like, 50 more people than I want..." Yuu groaned. They held Grim tighter as they tried to hide behind everyone.

Deuce was sweating bullets next to me. He was muttering nonstop. "I-I'm so nervous...Oh! I'm gonna forget all the lyrics I worked so hard to remember!"

"Deuce, just take deep breaths," I reassured him. Despite all my fretting earlier in the week, I felt no nerves at all standing in that room.

"Oh my! It's the ADeuce Combo and the Ramshackle combo." A familiar chipper voice approached us. Cater waved hello as he joined our circle. "Are you all here to audition for the VDC too?"

"Cater! You're here too?" Grim inquired.

"Yup," Cater twirled a strand of hair absent mindly, "since the VDC will be held here at our school and Vil will be participating this year. Getting the opportunity to be around a celebrity with over 5 million Magicam followers will make such fond memories, won't it?"

"A celebrity?" I voiced as I tilted my head. I looked at Yuu and they shrugged.

"Deuce was hesitant about joining, but all you seniors are so carefree," Ace sighed. It seemed we were just gonna gloss over the whole "celebrity" thing.

Cater looked perplexed at the mention of the nerves held by the first years. "Well, I think most people are like that. I mean, come on, just look over there." Cater pointed into the crowd and suddenly many familiar faces popped into notice.

Ruggie was off by himself doing some last minute practicing it seemed. I could barely make out through the chatter of the room, "La la la~ La la~ Hmph, I'm not the best at singing, but I'll manage the dancing somehow." He snickered. "I'm gonna get the 5 million madol prize for sure!"

"Of course, Ruggie wants the prize money, but can we run back to the celebrity comment?" I requested.

"Ooh, Cater. You came as well?" A deep voice was suddenly right next to my ear.

"UWAAH!!!" We all screamed. I was the only one that took a swing at the living piñata. I missed, thankfully, but the boy was giggling as he took the space next to Cater.

"Kufufu, pretty good reaction! Everyone at Heartslabyul is so lively!" Lilia said with a pleased smile. "And nice back hand from Viv. That would have been a good hit if you tried that on anyone else."

"Aww come on, Lilia! It's because you surprise people out of nowhere. Stahhp~" Cater shook his head in a weak attempt at reprimanding him.

"Oh, you're the one who gave us the holiday card," Yuu put together. "You always seem to pop up from upside down."

"Kufufu, indeed." Lilia accepted wholeheartedly. "I am the delivery boy, Lilia Vanrouge."

"Oh yeah, I remember you telling me someone gave you a holiday card, but you didn't know the sender." Grim recalled. "So, this was the sender?"

"Oh yeah, you had gone up ahead when that happened." I thought back.

"Aren't the initials on the card different from my name?" Lilia pointed out. "Kufufu. You'll find out who it's from soon enough."

Well, that isn't mysterious at all.

"Lilia, are you auditioning for the VDC too?" Cater asked, bringing the conversation back to the matter at hand.
