Chapter 11: Birds and Dragons?

"What do you think Usopp?"

"Hmm, there's no doubt."

"This is unbelievable!"

My eyes flutter open at the sound of the familiar voices and the hot weather. Lifting my head from Ace's chest I blink a couple of times to let my eyes get used to being open again before seeing Usopp, Luffy, and Chopper hovering over us.

Ace had stirred awake at the sudden disappearance of weight on his chest and he sat up, yawning and stretching. "Y/n? Is there something wrong?"

Usopp looked at me sternly with his hands on his hips, like a father would to his daughter. "You didn't tell us you guys were together!"

Heat immediately shot up to my face as a blush appeared on my features, scrambling up and pushing the shirtless man away. I waved my hands as I tried to deny that we were a thing, but Ace just laughing didn't really help the situation. "Ace! Tell them!"

The said male got up from his spot, dusting his clothes off with a smile. "She's right. Y/n just got really cold and I radiate heat. We were just talking last night and she ended up falling asleep, I didn't want to wake her so I just knocked out next to her."

I let out a sigh of relief as I looked at the man gratefully only to see the three boys with weird looks on their faces, not believing us. Before I could try to deny the accusations once more, Chopper's expression changes as he turns around and sniffs the air.

"Something's coming."

"Everyone! Hide behind a rock! A sandstorm is heading our way!"

Nobody had time to react as it quickly hit us head-first. I feel someone grab my waist to keep me from flying away and because of the many times the arm wrapped around my waist, I knew it was Luffy,

Soon enough the sandstorm passed and we all were buried in the sand. My head was buried under the sand, causing me to lose any source of oxygen. Thankfully, Luffy still had his hold on me as he pulled me up from the sand a little too fast. I flew out of the sand and into the air before landing on the captain, silently thanking the Devil-Fruit gods that he was rubber since the fall didn't hurt.

I looked down, finally able to breathe, to see the captain holding onto his hat while laughing. "What are you laughing at, weirdo?"

"You're funny, Y/n!"

I gave him a weird look before getting off of him and dusting myself off.

"Are you okay, Y/n?" Usopp coughs up the sand before turning to me with a concerned look, seeing that Luffy just almost gave me whiplash.

I smiled at his selflessness and sweatdropped when he coughed out more sand. "Forget about me, are you okay?"

He gave me a weak smile and shot me a thumbs-up with fake confidence once again. "Captain Usopp is always okay!"

A small laugh escapes my lips as I admire his foolishness, dusting off some sand from his shoulder which he rubs his neck bashfully at.

"Hey! Sanji! Let's have lunch! A Pirate Boxed lunch!"

Sanji immediately shot down the boy. "Not yet! Not until Vivi-chwan says so."

Luffy in response to Sanji's claim went to go try and persuade Vivi and she claimed that we were only one-tenth of the way to Yuba.

Forget the rest of the conversation, one-tenth only?

Usopp seemed to also be thinking this as we looked at each, telepathically dreading the rest of the journey, before leaning on each other and groaning.
