A deep sigh escapes my lips as I look at the beautiful girl in the mirror. The same unrecognizable girl that I've been looking at for almost a week now, the one I used to look at everyday.

"His majesty would like to see you," Maki knocked gently on my door as she pushed it open.

I nodded my head with a small smile, not looking at her so that I won't have to see her sad gaze. The woman had apologized over and over again throughout the week, expressing her guilt towards convincing me to stay. I had to reassure her multiple times, but I didn't mind. The woman was kind enough and I didn't want her to worry.

I stated at the wedding gown, a beautiful, beautiful dress that fit my body perfectly. It emphasized my curves and created some to make up for the areas I was lacking in. It was an off white so that It matched my skin tone better and it had lace around the skirt and on the corset/top part of the dress.

With one look at the expensive clothing and jewelry, I turned and walked towards my fathers room. When I arrived he was standing near a bedside drawer, looking at a picture of me, him, and mom.

I curtsied per usual, my head staying down as I spoke, "You called?"

"Raise your head," His voice seemed softer than usual, partially scaring me.

I lifted my head and watched as he placed the picture frame down before looking at me. The corner of his lips lifted slightly as he looked at me, "You look just like her."

I shifted uncomfortably under her gaze, not sure how to handle the intimate gaze.

"Come," He gestured me to stand in front of him, which I did, before turning me around gently and lifting my hair. Something cold touched my neck and when I looked down it was a beautiful necklace, a scythe made out of pure silver. He clasped the necklace on before turning me back around to get a good look at it, "This was your mothers. She wanted you to have it when you got married so that you can remember who you're truly meant to be."

I stared at the necklace that was gently laying in my hand, a lump stuck in my throat as my body threatened to let tears fall down my cheeks. Suddenly, anger started to bubble up as I processed the meaning of the necklace.

My mother would've never wanted this.

"I'm sorry."

My eyes widened at the sudden apology as I tore my gaze away from the necklace and back to my father.

The fog over his eyes seemed to have faded away as I saw him looking at me with tears falling down his cheeks and a light that had been missing for so long present in his e/c eyes.

"What?" I was almost too surprised to speak.

"I should have never treated you like that," He hesitantly placed his hands gently on my shoulders as he searched my eyes for any sign of forgiveness, "I was just so so scared I'd lose you to. I couldn't bear to lose my baby too."

I watched as the grown man who had acted like a strict, emotionally unavailable king for the past two years sobbed silently in front of me.

"When you left I realized that this isn't what M/n would've wanted, but I missed you so much that I let Chen talk me into this crazy mess," He laughed bitterly, holding his head with one of his hands, "Your mother really did marry a fool."

I looked at the man with empathy, recalling how I had acted when mother died, "You were just grieving, you always love too hard."

My father looked at me in disbelief before shaking his head firmly, "No. That's not an excuse. I shouldn't have treated my daughter like that. I'm sorry, Y/n, for everything. Would you be willing to call me your father again?"
