╰┈*ੈ‧₊˚Oh Look! A Child! ‧₊˚

Rei Todoroki had done all the grocery shopping for her family and was walking back to their home. She always enjoyed the fresh air and the calming white noise from cars when she walked outside. It was what kept her sane during hard times.

Rei held her black umbrella tightly while carrying the small grocery bags in the other. Her see-through raincoat perfectly hugging her heavily pregnant belly. She knew she wasn't supposed to be doing anything active like this and should mostly be resting, as she is due to give birth any day now. Fortunately, she has gotten used to doing things she's not supposed to while pregnant and now knows her limits. This is her 4th pregnancy after all.

The usual shopping items were nearly arranged by storage areas for her other three children to sort out. Milk, soft drinks, and vegetables in the cooler bag, while the bread and cereal were sorted into the other bag. The cans inside of the bag clinked against one another mixing with the sound of rain droplets falling onto the ground.

Rei was silent, a small smile on her lips as she listened to the white noise around her made by passing cars, people talking and her groceries. She felt calm for a moment. Away from the abuse she has to deal with at her home from her husband.

As she walked past a small local restaurant, she heard a baby cry in a nearby alleyway, and her motherly instincts immediately took over and forced her to go look. Upon entering the alleyway, Rei spotted a cardboard box, soaked from the rain, and peaked inside. Inside of the box laid a blanket soaked in water around the edges. Rei was sure she heard the sound coming from inside the box, so she lifted the blanket and sure enough there was something or actually someone.

Inside laid a beautiful baby girl, her short h/c damp, as well as the pouch she was wrapped in, and her bright e/c eyes filled with tears of cold and hunger. Rei almost immediately picked her up and cradled her close to her chest, as close as she could without resting the baby on her belly, to somewhat provide some comfort and warmth for the child.

She gently swayed side to side while softly hushing the poor baby. She saw the birth certificate tucked underneath the blanket in the box and slowly kneeled to grab it and started reading it.

         Name:         Keiko L̶/̶N̶

     Birthday: 03/01/2XXX

Sex: Female

Rei tried to make out her last name, however it was struck through extremely well, as if to keep the finder from knowing what was written there. The bottom of the paper was also torn off, Rei noticed. It seemed strange to her that someone would leave their child in an alleyway rather than in the adoption center. But who truly knows what their situation was?

"So, your name is Keiko, huh,  Sweetie? Why did your parents have to leave you, mhm? And your only a few days old. Poor baby." Rei cooed to the new-born who was now peacefully sleeping with her head on Rei's collarbone.

'She's so cute!' She thought, mentally saving this to the file in her head of her cute children. 'I wonder what I should do with you. Maybe I should put you up for adoption? No, Rei! She can't always move from family to family! I should just adopt her. That way she can have a financially stable family and I have another daughter!'

Keiko was quite a small baby, Rei noted. Her pouch covering her didn't do much to provide her body with warmth, though it was just big enough for small baby Keiko's form to fit in and still be a little warm.

Rei then stood up and continued her walk home with the sleeping baby. 'I just hope Enji will let us adopt her. It doesn't really matter; I love her already and I will adopt her no matter what Enji says, let's just hope the kids all accept her for who she is.'
