The breeze was quite gentle under the shade of the tree, yet you couldn't help but feel rather warm.

Around this time in the countryside , it tends to heat up in the day till the sunsets. At night the cool breeze comes in, along with the fireflies. It was a beautiful sight to see but the weather was not tolerable.

As you read your book, it helps to keep your mind occupied and away from reality. Not that you had anything to escape from, but it passes the time.

Your father always needed to make sure that the paperwork, signatures and business with Mr. LeClaire was going to run smoothly.

You enjoyed accompanying your father since your brothers were off fighting in the Napoleonic War. Leaving your family and their wives behind.

For you, you were still waiting to be wedded off by someone but your father couldn't bear to lose another child. He wanted to spend time with you, even if it meant taking you to such dull conferences.

Peacefully, you turned the page from the chapter and that's when a voice asked annoyingly

"What are you reading Ms. L/N?"

You huffed and closed the chapter you were on. You turned around, your eyes met the dark brown eyes of none other than Laurent LeClaire.

"Mr. LeClaire, I would expect for you to know that sneaking up on someone is rude. And, what I am reading is An Apology for the Life of Mrs. Shamela Andrews." You stated politely.

Laurent raised an eyebrow

"Henry Fielding? I thought you'd be more of a Jane Austen person". He said leaning against the tree.

"I'm surprised you even know anything about reading Mr. LeClaire". You aimed at his ego. But Laurent just shrugged your comment off.

"Please Mr. LeClaire is my father. You don't have to be proper around me all the time, Y/n." He said as he pushed himself off the tree.

"Well someone has to teach you manners. What are you doing here anyways? Other than of course this is your estate but shouldn't you be with your father and my father gathering up the deal?" You inquired.

Laurent began to walk off near the lake, and picked up a few pebbles. Slowly he began skipping them.

"That's the first time you ask me something worth talking about Ms. L/N. Indeed I should be with them but I'm sincerely bored and the heat is killing me."
