Izuku's POV

I wake up to the blinding light of the sun streaming through my window. I put my right arm over my eyes and take some time to adjust. Aizawa is in his sleeping bag while on a chair. I'll never understand how he can be comfortable in the strangest places. I grab my phone from my left and check the time. 7 AM. I stand up and stretch, making sure my body isn't too stiff from disuse.

I grab the bag next to my bed and look in. I have a pair of black jeans and a white tank top with a pair of black boxers. I go get changed and then think about what I need to do today. First thing is find out how to fix my hearing. The next is getting the fuck outta here.

I exit the bathroom and grab my phone. I get my socks and shoes on and debate what I can do. I need to eat something. I don't want to wake Aizawa, but I don't think I can leave my room. I figure I have better chances leaving my room. I open the door and look out into the hallway. There are a few nurses roaming around, but I don't see anyone else.

I make my way down the hall towards the elevators. The cafeteria should be on the first floor. I push the button and slowly make my way back to the first floor. Every time I'm in a hospital, I feel like that same scared kid back when my mom was dying. I remember how I'd come every day after school. I always went in with the hope that she'd be awake.

That last day was the hardest. Walking in. The doctor coming up to me and telling me that we couldn't afford to keep her life support on anymore. The thoughts that ran through my mind. The realization that this was my final day with her. I remember calling Aunt Mitsuki. She didn't make it to the phone, so I left a voicemail. She didn't end up making it to the hospital.

All the anger and sadness. Crying while holding mom's hand for the last time. The quiet walk home. All the horrible thoughts the week of mom's funeral. The dissociation during class that last week before the League. All of it. All the horrible feelings that come back. And all because I'm back in a bed that reminds me of scared Izuku.

The doors open and I get out, suddenly feeling cramped and claustrophobic. I take a few steps out of the hospital and catch my breath. I take a few deep breaths before going back in and looking for the cafeteria.

I see a sign pointing to the left with the label 'cafeteria' on it, and I walk in. I go over to the counter and grab some eggs, bacon, and a bagel. I'm not really sure I can finish all of it, but I need to get something in me. I take it to a table and eat a few bites of eggs. They're not bad, but they're nowhere near as good as the stuff at U.A.

I eat a strip of bacon and a small bite of the bagel. I pull out my phone and scroll through my feed. There's the fight from yesterday, some more hero news, and some stuff about a movie I watched as a kid getting a remake. I put my phone away and keep eating.

After I finish, I walk back over to the elevator. That's when I remember, I don't know where my room is. I look to see who I can ask where my room is. I see the receptionist, but that feels like a bad idea. I don't want to text Aizawa, because he could still be asleep. I decide to text Ochaco. She might know where my room is, and she won't be too mad.

I pull my phone out and ask her where my room is. She says I'm in room 51 on floor 3. She then asks why I need the info. I reply with the truth. I left my room. She doesn't reply, so I make my way up to my room. There's no one at the desk near the door to enter, so I hack into the controls for the locking system and unlock the door from my phone. I walk back to my room and see that Aizawa is still asleep. I go back into bed.

A few minutes later, the doctor comes in. "Hello, Mr. Midoriya. How did you sleep?"

"I slept alright." He hums and writes something down on my clipboard.

"I see that you're all patched up. Anything that wasn't fixed."

"Yeah. The hearing in my left ear isn't fully back. I can hear a little bit out of it, but it's really faint." He nods and writes another note on the clipboard.

"I can see if we have anything scheduled for today, and if not, we can have our ENT doctor look at the damage. Then we'll take the next steps." I nod and he runs over the other normal stuff. He leaves and I try to find out what I can do.

I look over at Aizawa and see him stir. "Wake up, old man." He looks over at me and frown. I chuckle and he stretches. "How was your nap?"

"Terrible."

"Great. Ready for another day of classes?"

"There's no class. It's Sunday." I must've forgotten what day it was in all the craziness going on. "So, how are you feeling?"

"Well, I feel pretty good, all things considered. I mean, I'm still a little nervous about my hearing, but we'll cross that bridge pretty soon. I might get an appointment today to see what to do." He nods. "If I need a hearing aid, can I build my own at U.A.?"

"You'd have to ask Nezu. Knowing him, he'd be willing to let you do it just to see what you'd add to it. Honestly, I think you two would get along really well if you actually sat down and discussed." I let out a smile and he just shakes his head.

The doctor comes back after a few minutes of Aizawa and I talking about nothing in particular. "So, we have a time slot right now if you'd like to go."

"I'd really like that." The doctor nods and gestures for me to follow him. Aizawa stands up and follows me. We walk down the hall towards the elevator, then take it to the 5th floor. He takes us down one hallway and then another, then leads us into a room in the middle of the hall.

He talks to the doctor in there, hands him the clipboard, and then leaves. "Hello, Mr... Midoriya. Could you take a seat over here?" He gestures to a chair near a machine. I sit down and wait for him to explain everything.

He tells me that we'll be going through a few tests and then tells me about each one. He then starts the machine and we start the tests. After a few, he stops. We don't need to run through all of them. "So, the problem can't be solved with surgery. You'll need to get a hearing aid. We can order one for you, or you can order one for yourself. We'll give you a sheet with all the information you'll need on it." I thank him and Aizawa and I leave. When we get back to my room, I start packing everything up.

After I'm done, I call for a nurse. I wait for one to arrive and look at Aizawa. "Thank you for being here the whole time. I needed the company. I hate hospitals so damn much." He simply nods and helps carry out my gift baskets. A nurse shows up and asks what we need. "Am I in a stable enough condition to be discharged?"

"I wouldn't know, but I can ask a doctor." I nod and she goes outside the room to call a doctor. I'm finally getting the fuck out of this place.

I hope y'all enjoyed this chapter, and I'm glad you guys are enjoying it so far. Getting back into writing this has been a lot of fun. I do hope this has been enjoyable so far. I know the past few chapters have been very centered around hospitals, but I felt like diving into the trauma I gave my version of Izuku. The next few chapters will be a bit more about U.A. and life at the dorms, I promise. Thanks for reading so far. Have a good day, and remember to drink some water.
