"Be good for your nana, imma be back to get you later baby alright?" Syre crouched down to be leveled with Malani who nodded her head in understanding. He leant forward to press a gentle kiss along her forehead, making her dimples indent deeply as she exchanged the affection along her fathers cheek.

"Bye dada!" She waved, before turning to skip past Veronica and into her grandparents home.

Syre watched her until she was out of view, to put his focus on Veronica whose face said everything. "Still nothing?" She asked Syre who only shook his head no. He didn't feel like getting into it, and she could tell from his lack of words "Okay, please just let me know when you figure stuff out baby." She sighed, and he only nodded.

"I will, I'll call you and let you know if imma get her tonight. I have some stuff to take care of, and I should be good before her bedtime, but I'll keep you posted." He spoke to Veronica who nodded.

"Don't worry about it, I have no problem keeping her tonight." She smiled, pressing another kiss against his forehead before waving bye to Syre who jogged off her porch.

This was the constant routine for the past couple of weeks now, since Amerie disappeared high and dry suddenly. It took him days to process the fact that he was suddenly left with their daughter, with no communication or understanding of where her mother went off to. That night was the last he'd seen or heard from her, him and everyone else.

He didn't know how he was supposed to be the primary parent of a two year old little girl, but he'd been trying his best for the last couple of weeks. Amerie's parents offered to take her, but he denied the offer because he felt like that was his role as a father. If the mother wasn't there, he should have been able to raise his own child that he laid down and made.

He was still trying to get back into the swing of everything and find his footing again, while still keeping a low profile. So he sometimes had Veronica take Malani for the day, or a night if he was going over someone's house. The someone as of lately being the woman whose voice sounded through the Bluetooth of his car.

"I don't know what to put on, this is my first time actually going somewhere with you since you've been out." Jaileen's voice filled the car, her melodic tone bringing relaxation to Syre who leant back once approaching the red light.
