2005:

Takemichi stood dumbstruck, as he faced Hinata for the first time after dumping her. Mikey and I stood a distance away, watching the two intently, just as Emma and Draken were doing.

The First Division captain whipped his head around, facing us. "What did you bring me here for, Mikey?!"

The blonde in question stared up into the sky, blatantly ignoring his friend.

I tugged on my boyfriend's sleeve and whispered into his ear. "You set them up?"

Not verbally responding to my question either, Mikey gave me a goofy smile, before wrapping his arm around my shoulders.

Although Takemichi never wanted to break Hina's heart in the first place, he still couldn't manage to get the right words out. "Uh, I... um..."

"Another fight, huh?" The pink-haired girl nonchalantly asked.

Just as I thought Hinata was going to ask him about the real reason for his sudden break up proposal, the blonde dropped to his knees and violently sobbed.

"Hina! I'm so sorry! He's right! Everything your father said! I'm nothing but a piece of shit delinquent, and all I've done is get you into terrible danger! I couldn't stand it if something stupid I did got you hurt! After all, I swore I'd rescue you!"

"Rescue me?"

It's too bad Hinata can't understand what he's really doing. His devotion is admirable.

"Hina! And I will, no matter what happens to you! If you die, I'll still find a way to save your life!"

"If I die? What are you talking about? You're not making sense."

"Even if something horrible happens, like if you were crushed in your car by a truck and it smashed both of your legs, or you died in a fire! I'll always save you, every time! Just promise me... I'm asking you to forget I broke up with you, please!"

That's sweet, but did he have to get so graphic? I get that her death was tragic, but describing her own demise to her face is crazy work.

"Fine, then." The pink-haired girl kept a calm composure as she spoke. "Come with me to the shrine on New Years."

"Huh? Are you telling me that-"

Hinata grinned, as she tilted her head to the side. "We're back together again!" Her lovely smile immediately faded upon seeing her boyfriend in tears. "Oh, come on now! Stop that!"

Emma sniffled, as a few tears slid down her cheeks, leading me to give her a hug.

"I'm so happy for you, Hina!"

Mikey rolled his eyes. "Then why are you crying about it, Emma?"

Glaring at the shorter blonde boy, I let out a sigh. "You're not a girl, so you just don't get it."

"He's a wimp when it comes to women and he's a lame fighter too, but he always comes through when the chips are down," Draken chuckled. "It's strange; he really is a lot like him in a lot of ways."

"Yeah." My boyfriend smiled, as he closed his eyes. "Yo, Takemitchy! Let's you and me go for a ride. You too, (Y/n)." He grabbed onto my arm, before marching over to the other blonde, taking his. "I need to borrow Takemitchy for a while, Hinata."

The First Division captain sniffled. "Wait, where are we going?!"

"Come on!"

And once again, without explanation, Mikey drove away with the two of us on the back of his bike.
