2006:

As the rain fell upon us, Chifuyu, Katsumi, and I walked along the sidewalk, on our way to Takemichi's house.

Sure, the Takemichi we're visiting now isn't the same as before, but he's still our friend.

A loud pounding noise led us all to stop in our tracks. There the boy we were planning to visit was, beating up a tire swing.

"Take that, you son of a bitch! I'll kick your ass so bad that you won't walk for a week!"

"What the hell are you doing?"

Chifuyu's sudden appearance behind the other blonde led him to jump, not expecting us to show up.

"What?! Chifuyu, Katsumi, (Y/n)?! What are you guys doing here?!"

"We were actually heading to your place, but we had to stop and watch some guy threaten a poor tire in the middle of the rain," the black-haired girl snickered.

"What did that tire swing ever do to you?" I giggled.

"Shut the hell up!" The First Division captain retorted. "Can't you see I'm busy?! I don't have time for your crap!"

"Woah, woah!" A vein popped up on Chifuyu's cheek. "Is that any way to talk to your friends?"

"I'm focusing on training right now!" Takemichi grunted, as he landed another punch to the tire. "I need to be the toughest bastard around. Otherwise, I'll never be able to get the future to turn out right!"

Oh shit! He's back?!

"Hey, wait!" The male vice-captain gasped. "You're Takemitchy from the future!"

The boy went into a detailed explanation about how everyone, besides me, was killed off in the current timeline. Not even Mikey or Kisaki survived.

"I can't believe that," Katsumi muttered. "We seriously all die?"

Taken aback by this new information, I dropped to my knees. "Mikey kills everyone and then I almost died because I didn't want him to be the one to kill me?"

"So, that's why I've got to get tougher."

"So, that's why you're out here punching a tire?" Chifuyu grinned.

"What're you, twelve?" Katsumi smirked.

"Screw you two!" Takemichi shouted as he punched the tire again. "In the future, I quit Toman and everyone stood up for me and let me do it, cause I'm such a weakling! So, if I wanna change anything, I've gotta be tough enough to stay in Toman!"

As the boy continued punching, I noticed specs of blood on the tire.

"Stop it!" I grabbed his arm, looking at his bloodied knuckles. "Look at your hands. You need to chill out."

"How long have you been punching that thing?" The black-haired girl concernedly asked.

Keeping quiet, Takemichi broke out of my hold, only to go back to punching the tire.

"Busting your knuckles like that is only going to make you weaker! Sometimes you just need to know when enough is enough!"

"I thought this over a lot when I was with you and Naoto! What can I do in the past to change the future for the better? How do I save everyone? We went around in circles and circles, trying to find a clue! Who killed Hina? Did Mikey really kill all his friends in Toman, and why-"

Cutting him off by grabbing his hood and tossing him to the ground, Chifuyu scoffed. "That's enough, you idiot! Stop it! Goddamn, are you nuts?!"

"You don't understand," Takemichi cried. "Even after I went over it and over it, I still have no idea how to save everyone. Nothing I've tried ended up helping anyone! Even after all these attempts, I got nothing! I can't handle this shit; it's too much to take! I was right there when Mikey died in (Y/n)'s arms, you guys! I watched the light leave his eyes! This shit is too hard!"
