-- SEVERAL YEARS LATER --

In the grand palace of Hastinapur, the king's bhavan, adorned with opulent tapestries and golden accents, echoed with the bustling ambiance of the kingdom.

A figure of authority emerged through the corridors, walking with purpose, holding a mighty bow in hands. He was dressed in white and all his ornaments were white as well. It was none other than Devavrat, now famous in the three worlds as Bhishm. And he was looking rather angry.

He stormed the king's chamber, and saw that the air was heavy with laughter, clinking glasses, and the sweet perfume of exotic flowers

He stormed the king's chamber, and saw that the air was heavy with laughter, clinking glasses, and the sweet perfume of exotic flowers. The room was alive with revelry, the atmosphere electric and infectious.

"Maharaj Chitrangad !" He called out to the one sitting at the high seat, the eldest son of Satyavati and Shantanu.

"Ekant." Chitrangad said to his friends, who all stood up and left hurriedly leaving the two alone.

Seeing Bhishm's furious eyes piercing him, the son of Satyavati stood up with lowered gaze, knowing exactly the reason for his elder brother's tempted fury.

"Kya aap mantri parishad ki baithak mei gaye the ?" Bhishm asked.

"Nahi." Chitrangad said.

"Kyu ?" Bhishm asked, trying to contain his anger

"Kyu ?" Bhishm asked, trying to contain his anger.

"Maine anivarya nahi samjha." Chitrangad said.

Bhishm took a step towards him, his anger turning into disappointment, "Tum iss rajya ke Maharaj ho Chitrangad, swargiya Samrat Shantanu ke uttaradhikari ho. Thodi gambhirta dikhao."

Chitrangad looked at Bhishm with a bored expression, before rolling his eyes and gazing side-ways. This irked the son of Ganga, but he chose to let it slide.

"Tumhare iss bigde balak jaise vyavhaar se Mantri-jan aprasann hai. Chitrangad, Raja yadi mantriyo ko kupit kar deta hai, toh ati shigreh apne Shatruo ko apne virodh mei pata hai." Bhishm said.

At that Chitrangad laughed and looked at Bhishm, "Kaunsa shatru mere virodh mei khada hoga Jyesht ? Bhuliye mat, iss prithvi par aisa koi Raja nahi, jisko maine apne Indra-samaan bhujao ke samarthya se parast na kiya ho. Manushya hi kya ? Maine toh devta, yaksh aur Gandharv, sabhi ko parajit kiya hai."

"Oh ?" Bhishm raised a brow, "Yadi aap itne hi balwaan aur shauryavaan hai, Maharaj Chitrangad, toh Mahal ke praan-gan mei sthit, Rameshwari ke talwaar ko tanik utha ke dikhayiye." He said.

Chitrangad's face contorted in irritation, as he glared at Bhishm, who was looking at him with a mocking smile.

"Arrey ha ! Yaad aya." Gangeya said, "Usko uthane ke chakkar mei aapke Indra-samaan bhujao ke maanspeshiyo mei khichaav agaya tha, parantu woh talwaar apne sthaan se hili tak nahi."

Chitrangad clenched his fists, while Bhishm clicked in his tongue, "Poore 2 din aap apna haath nahi utha paaye the, Maharaj."

"Bas !" The son of Satyavati exclaimed in anger, he picked up his own bow and stormed towards Bhishm and standing right in front of him, and looking at him in the eye, Chitrangad said, "Uss talwaar ko toh aap bhi utha nahi paaye the, Mahamahim. Toh aapko kis baat ka ahankaar hai ?"

"Maine apne jeevan mei bahut ke karya kiye hai, jiska mujhe abhimaan hai. Aur unhe tumhare saamne ginne hetu mai badhya nahi." Bhishm said.

Chitrangad raised his bow, glaring at his elder brother he said, "Toh chaliye dwand karke pata laga lete hai ki kiske paas abhimaan karne ka adhikaar hai."

Bhishm stared at him for a moment, before taking a step back. A knowing smirk appeared on the young king's face.

"Kya huya ? Bhayebhit ho gaye Mahamahim ?" Chitrangad asked.

"Tum Hastinapur ke singhasan par virajmaan ho. Aur yeh jaante ho ki Kuru Maharaj ke virudh mai shashtra nahi utha sakta. Mera kartavya, tumhari raksha karna hai. Aur ise tum apna saubhagya samjho." Bhishm said.

Turning back on his feet, the son of Ganga began to leave. But before heading out of the room, Bhishm looked back at Chitrangad one more time.

"Jeevan mei har koi mere jaisa badhya nahi hoga, Chitrangad. Iss liye dwand ka awahan bina soche samjhe kisi ko bhi na diya karo, yadi woh tumse adhik shaktishaali huya toh praan gava kar apni bhul ka bhugtaan karoge." He said and then left.

But Chitrangad scoffed, not ready to heed to his words.
