CHAPTER 35

It had been quite some time since Pandu had ascended to the throne of Hastinapur, and with his coronation, the sun of the mighty kingdom began to shine brightly once more. The lands of Kurujangala, Kurukshetra, and the Kurus flourished, witnessing a remarkable surge in prosperity.

The land produced abundant crops and the harvests were plenty. The clouds showered down rain at the right time. The trees yielded many flowers and fruit. The beasts of burden were happy and so were the animals and the birds.

The cities were full of traders and artisans. The people became brave, learned, honest and happy. Not a single robber lurked in the shadows, nor did anyone dare to defy the principles of dharma. It was as though the golden age of Krita Yuga had descended upon every corner of the land. The country expanded by bringing in other kingdoms into its fold.

The people were devoted to rites of dharma, charity and performance of sacrifices. With love and affection for each other, the subjects grew in prosperity. They were devoid of pride, anger and avarice. They helped each other in becoming prosperous and dharma reigned supreme.

"Samrat Shantanu ka Hastinapur punah laut aya Maharaj Pandu ke raaj mei !"

"Jo chor hume loot ke jaate the, Maharaj Pandu ne unhe bhi kar dene hetu badhya kardiya."

On seeing that Shantanu's lineage had again been revived, a saying became common in the world and in all the kingdoms.

वीरसूनां काशिसुते देशानां कुरुजाङ्गलम् ।
सर्वधर्मविदां भीष्मः पुराणां गजसाह्वयम् ॥
(Among mothers of heroes, the daughters of the king of Kashi; among all countries, Kurujangala; among those who know everything about dharma, Bhishm; and among all cities, Gajasahrya)

As the kingdom thrived, Bhishm summoned his nephews, recognizing the gravity of the matter at hand. A sense of urgency hung in the air, for the topic to be discussed was of utmost importance.

The three resplendent young men entered, and after bowing to him, they took their seats.

Bhishm said, "Humara kul sat-guno se sampann hone ke karan Jagat mei vikhyaat hai. Iss kul ne prithvi ko jeeta hai. Kurukul ki raksha dharmagya Rajao ne kiya tha, iss liye humara vansh ka kabhi annt nahi huya. Bich mei aaye sankat kaal ke samaye Rajmata aur maine, Ved Vyas ki kripa se, humare mahaan kul ko annt se bachaya hai."

Pausing for a moment, he smiled and looked at his nephews, "Ab yeh bhaar tum sabhi par ata hai. Kuruo ke nayi pidhi hetu tumhe vivah karna hoga."

"Vidur," Bhishm gazed at the youngest prince, "Meri iccha hai ki hum Yadavo se sambandh banaye, unka kul humare anukul hai. Gandhar-raj Subal ki putri aur Madra-raj ki behen bhi yogya hai humare Kuruvansh hetu. Tumhe kya lagta hai ?"

"Aap humare Pita hai, aap humare Mata aur aap hi humare liye guru hai. Humare aur humare iss kul ke kalyaan hetu aap jo uchit samjhe, kare." Vidur said.

"Brahmano se maine iss vishaye par mantrana ki thi, unse mujhe pata chala ki Maharaj Subal ki putri, Gandhari ko Mahadev se 100 putra praapt karne ka vardaan hai. Mere anusaar woh Dhritrashtra hetu, yogya vadhu hogi." Bhishm said.

At that a small smile appeared on the face of Dhritrashtra. Seeing which Bhishm was assured of his decision.

"Pandu ?" Bhishm shifted his gaze at the son of Ambalika.

"Ji Tatshree ?" Pandu said.

"Gandhar-raj ko Dhritrashtra ka vivah prastaav bhejdo." Gangeya said.

"Jaisa aap kahe." Pandu smiled.

A/N

Waise remember how Bhishm called Ambika and Ambalika as Vichitraveerya's field.... I just checked the Hindi translation from Gita press version..... It's kinda not in the reference of the princesses and Khet nahi kshetra bola tha-

I looked into it after seeing the same terminology used by Pandu~

Yaha pe kshetra ka arth, I guess it's in reference to lineage

Yaha pe kshetra ka arth, I guess it's in reference to lineage. So Vichitraveerya ka kshetra is Vichitraveerya ka lineage.... And not as in women are farms of their husband-

So I have corrected my mistake in chapter 24 🙃🙏

Pitamah uss jagah problematic nahi the... lekin dusri bahut jagah mei hai~
