The atmosphere was saturated with the intoxicating scent of jasmine, while the enchanting melodies of music filled the air. Distinguished guests from distant lands had assembled to bear witness to the sacred union of Devaki and Vasudev.

The radiant bride, adorned in all her splendor, couldn't resist stealing glances at her groom. Despite his mature years, he possessed an aura that resembled that of a god, captivating all who beheld him.

As their eyes locked for the very first time, it was as if the world around them ceased to exist. Time itself stood still, and a profound silence enveloped them. In that moment, they gazed upon each other with an intensity that spoke of a love transcending lifetimes, as if they were two souls reunited after an eternity apart.

Amidst the hushed silence, the couple exchanged heartfelt vows and adorned each other with garlands, symbolizing their unbreakable bond. The sacred fire bore witness to their profound love and unwavering commitment.

As the ceremony unfolded, an undeniable aura of joy and love permeated the air, enveloping everyone present. It was a palpable energy that touched the hearts of all, leaving no doubt that this union was blessed by the divine forces that govern the universe.

Family members and guests offered their blessings and well-wishes to the newlyweds. Amidst the crowd, Kamsa, Devaki's cousin and a powerful ruler, was beaming with delight at the marriage of his beloved sister.

"Aaj bade anand ka din hai, Vasudev. Pehle aap mere mitra the ab sambandhi bhi ban gaye." Kamsa said with a smile.

Vasudev chuckled and said, "Iska arth hai ki ab tumhe mera dugna sammaan karna hoga."

Kamsa laughed, "Awashya ! Aap toh sadev se mere adarniya rahe hi hai."

The newlyweds then gracefully approached the magnificent chariot, patiently awaiting their departure outside the enchanting wedding venue.

The atmosphere was filled with jubilation as the guests erupted in cheers, showering the couple with heartfelt blessings and well-wishes as they navigated through the bustling crowd.

Suddenly, a commanding voice pierced through the air, halting the couple in their tracks. "Thehero !" Kamsa's voice boomed, causing Devaki and Vasudev to freeze in anticipation.

In a swift motion, the valiant son of Ugrasen dashed towards them, signaling the charioteer to step down from the majestic vehicle. The saarthi obeyed, and Kamsa mounted the chariot, sitting down at the charioteer's seat and taking up the reins in his hand.

He excitedly looked at the newlyweds, and said, "Meri priya behen Devaki ka vivah huya hai aaj. Uska rath toh mai hi haakunga."

Devaki and Vasudev looked at each other and then back at Kamsa, their hearts were joyed seeing the brotherly love. Without wasting another moment, the son of Shurasen mounted the chariot, and then extended his hand to his bride, helping her to climb up and sit as well.

But just as Kamsa gently lifted the reins, a radiant light suddenly burst forth from the heavens, its brilliance so overwhelming that it compelled everyone to instinctively shield their eyes.

"Durachari Kamsa !" A booming divine voice was heard.

With squinted eyes, the courageous son of Ugrasen dared to open them, and in unison, Devaki and Vasudev followed suit. The air was thick with an electrifying energy, as if the gods themselves were orchestrating this grand spectacle.

The heavenly voice said, "Jis behen se tu itna prem karta hai, wahi behen tere mrityu ka dwaar banegi. Devaki aur Vasudev ka aathva putra tera kaal banega !"

As the ominous words sank in, Kamsa's joyful expression swiftly transformed into an overwhelming rage. With eyes ablaze, Kamsa sharply turned back towards Devaki, who looked at him with wide terrified eyes. The one in front of him was not his brother anymore.

And in a sudden burst of fury, Kamsa seized Devaki's sacred hair, violently yanking her down from the chariot.

"KAMSA !" Vasudev shouted.

A collective gasp escaped from everyone's lips as Kamsa unsheathed his sword, which hung from his waist. Devaki, her eyes brimming with tears, squeezed them shut, bracing herself for the impending horror.

But just as Kamsa prepared to strike, Vasudev intervened, gripping the blade firmly between his hands. Blood trickled down his palms, yet he showed no signs of pain.

Vasudev said, "Kamsa, tum kul ki kirti badhane wale shoorveer ho. Bade se bade yoddha tumhari prashansa karte hai. Fir yeh toh ek stree hai, tumhari behen hai, aur toh aur yeh vivah ka pavitra samharoh hai. Aise tum ise kaise maar sakte ho ?"

"NAHI HAI YEH MERI BEHEN !" Kamsa blazed in anger, "Iske garbh se mera kaal janmega ! Iss kulghatini ko mai jeevit nahi chhodunga !"

Vasudev shook his head and said, "Jo iss prithvi par janma hai, uski mrityu toh honi hi hai. Jeevatma ko deh apne karmo ke anusaar milta hai. Acche karm se ucch yoni ka janm, aur bure karmo se neech yoni ka janm. Iss liye jo swayam ka kalyaan chaahta hai, woh kisi anya ka ahit nahi karte. Devaki toh tumhari chhoti behen hai, bacchi hai, deen hai aur abhi abhi iska vivah huya hai. Iska vadh kar tumhe na yaha shaanti milegi na parlok mei. Tum sadev bhayebhit rahoge !"

"Mujhe kisi ka bhaye nahi ! Na Indra ka na Vishnu ka !" Kamsa yelled, "Buddhimaan vyakti ko kaise bhi karke apni mrityu taalne ka prayatna karna chahiye. Aur mujhe toh apne mrityu ka rahasya bhi pata chal gaya hai. Fir ise mai jeevit kaise chhod du !?"

"Tumhara kaal toh Devaki ki santaan hai na ! Devaki toh nahi !" Vasudev said.

Kamsa looked at him with a frown, the son of Shurasen said, "Tumhe sankat toh Devaki ke putra se hai, toh mai tumhe humare sabhi putra laa ke saup dunga."

Devaki looked at her husband with her tear stricken face. While Kamsa looked somewhat convinced for he knew Vasudev was not the one to turn back on his words.

"Uchit hai." Kamsa said and then turned back on his feet, storming out of the venue.

Vasudev knelt down before Devaki, helping her sit up. A heart-wrenching sob escaped her quivering lips, while tears cascaded down her cheeks, unstoppable and unrestrained. Desperately, she clung to his garments, seeking solace in his presence. With a heavy heart, he gently caressed her head, his touch filled with sorrow and compassion.

"Kyu Aryaputra ?" Devaki cried, "Aapne aise vachan kyu bola ?"

Vasudev sighed, "Vidhata ke vidhaan ko badla nahi jaa sakta, Devaki. Jab devtao ne yeh nishchit Kiya hai ki humare aathve santaan ke haatho Kamsa ki mrityu hogi, toh awashya hogi. Isme koi sandeh nahi."
