"Theheriye Brahmarishi Pandu !" An ascetic stopped the former king and his wives, who were going in the northward direction from Shatshringa, hoping to reach heaven.

The ascetics, some of whom saw Pandu as a son, some as a brother, while others as a friend, united with a shared purpose: to protect him from the perils that lay ahead. They halted his journey, for they knew that his best interest was at stake.

"Himalay paar kar humne devtao, gandharvo, apsarao aur yaksho ka krida kshetra dekha hai. Woh sthaan sabhi sukh aur suvidha se paripurn hai. Parantu yeh Rajkumariya waha kaise jaa sakti hai ? Aapka jana uchit nahi." They said.

"Satyavachan." Pandu sighed, "Jiski santaan nahi uske liye swarg ke dwaar khule nahi hote. Maine pitru-hrin toh chukaya hi nahi."

The man who does not discharge his four debts at the right time has no worlds. This has been established by those who know dharma. The gods are pleased through sacrifices, the sages through studying and austerities, men through kindness, and the ancestors through the continuation of their lineage through sons and the sacred rituals of shraddhas.

In accordance with the principles of dharma, Pandu had dutifully fulfilled his obligations towards the rishis, the gods, and his fellow men. However, there remained a lingering debt towards his ancestors, a debt that continued to haunt him relentlessly.

Pandu, burdened by the weight of this unresolved obligation, found himself trapped in a state of perpetual turmoil. His soul yearned for liberation, yet the shackles of indebtedness held him captive.

Pandu asked, "Kya mujhe.... Kya mujhe waise hi putro ki praapti kar leni chahiye jis prakar mere pita ke kshetra mei putra aaye the ?"

The ascetics looked at each other and smiled, knowingly. For they had seen through their divine sight, the divine offspring that shall be born to the king turned Brahmarishi.

"Aapke niyati mei gyaani, sundar, nishkalank aur dev-roopi putra hai. Yeh humne apni divya drishti se dekha hai." One ascetic told.

Another old ascetic said, "Apne karm se, devtao ki iccha ko sakaar karo, putra. Jab tum jaise purush prayas kare, toh fal sadev shubh hi praapt hote hai. Guni putro ki praapti kar, tumhe sukh awashya milega."

Upon hearing the ascetics' words, Pandu was consumed by worry, as he recollected the unfortunate loss of his own procreative abilities, the consequence inflicted upon him by the curse of the deer.

Pandu then turned to his first wife, "Kunti, santaan praapti hetu kiya gaya samaagam ka samarthan kiya jata hai. Gyaani vyakti kehte hai ki chadhawa, upahaar, tapasya aur aatma-niyantran bhi ek nisantaan purush ko uske paapo se mukt nahi karte."

Pausing for a moment, he said, "Manu ne kaha hai ki jo swayam santaan utpatti hetu asamarth hai, woh kisi anya ke madhyam se santaan praapti kar sakte hai. Iss liye Kunti, tum mere guno ke anukul ya mujhse shresht guno wale Brahman se samagam kar mujhe putra pradaan karne ki kripa karo. Anyatha parlok mei mera koi sthaan nahi."

"Nahi !" Kunti shook her head, not even being able to think of lying with another man, but her husband, "Mai aapki dharmpatni hu, aapke prati samarpit hu. Aapko swayam mujhe putra pradaan karna chahiye, mai aapke saath swarg prasthaan karungi. Aapke alawa mai kisi anya ke paas jaane ka soch bhi nahi sakti. Aur waise bhi iss prithvi par aisa koi bhi manushya nahi, jo aapke anukul ho, aapse shresht hona toh dur ki baat hai."

"Parantu Kunti," Pandu said, " Mere Pita Vichitraveerya ke mrityu ke baad bhi, mai aur Jyesht, niyog ke madhyam se janme the. Humari Mataye bhi apne pati ke prati samarpit thi, parantu unhone Vyas se madhyam se hume praapt kiya. Yeh adharm nahi hai Kunti. Dharm toh yeh bhi kehta hai ki yadi putra-praapt karne mei asamarth pati yadi apni patni ko niyog karne ko kahe, toh patni ka kartavya hai, uska dharm hai, ki woh uski baat maane."

Joining his hands, like lotus leaves
with red fingers, and raising them above his head, Pandu requested, "Kunti, kripa karo aur Brahmano ke madhyam se mujhe putra pradaan karo."

Seeing her husband, practically begging her, Kunti couldn't refuse. With the intention of pleasing her husband she told him a secret which she had never revealed till now, "Jab mai apne Pita ke chhaya mei nivaas kar rahi thi, toh maine Durvasa Rishi ki sewa kar unhe prasann kiya tha. Unhone mujhe ek Aisa mantra bataya, jisse mai kisi bhi devta ko apne samaksh prakat kar, unse santaan ki praapti kar sakti hu. Yadi aapki aagya ho, toh mai aapke sujhaaye devta ko bula, unse putra praapt kar lu."

Hearing about the boon which she had obtained from Sage Durvasa, Pandu was overcome with sheer delight. At long last, he would be blessed with sons, not just any ordinary ones, but the very offspring of the divine Gods themselves !

The sons who would undoubtedly bring immeasurable honor and glory to his name, becoming a true blessing to the illustrious Kuru lineage. The sheer anticipation of this wondrous gift filled Pandu's heart with an exhilarating excitement.

"Kunti ! Aaj hi mantra ka prayog karo ! Dharmdev ko bulao. Isse nisandeh aisa putra janmega jo dharm ke prati samarpit rahega, uske man mei kabhi bhi aisa kuch nahi hoga jo dharm sangat nahi. Iss liye shigreh Dharmdev ki puja kar, unke niyog hetu bulao." Pandu said.

So.... The biggest myth of Mahabharat is..... That Yudhishthir was the son of Yamraj.... Which is not true.... YUDHISHTHIR WAS THE SON OF DHARMDEV !

And no Yamdev and Dharmdev aren't the same, Yamraj is son of Suryadev, Dharmdev is the son of Brahmadev. Yamraj is married to Dhumorna, on the other hand, Dharmdev is married to ten or thirteen daughters of Daksh.

Yamraj and Dharmdev, both are mentioned various times in Mahabharat, but not even once is Yudhishthir said to be the son of Yamraj. Everywhere he is mentioned to be the son of Dharmdev.

Even during the Yaksh prashna, it's Dharmdev who tests him, and says that he is Yudhishthir's father.
