Because there was Lu Yanchen leading a group of soldiers, Sun Pingfang and Wang Haohan's wedding, although simple, was quite lively and warm.

The soldiers were all envious that Wang Haohan was getting married. They made the bridal chamber lively and the wedding banquet more joyful than those of ordinary families on the mainland. Of course, Gu Ling played a significant role; she prepared twelve dishes, mostly seafood with various flavors.

As for drinks, they had them too. Rarely having such a joyful occasion, they went to the mainland specifically to buy them yesterday.

If it weren't for Wang Haohan's wedding, Lu Yanchen and the others would hardly have such a relaxed time, enjoying drinking and feasting.

Sun Pingfang and Wang Haohan truly liked each other. On the wedding night, they took an early bath and returned to their room, a newly built two-story small western-style building with four rooms. The innermost room had the character "喜" (happiness) posted on the door, which was Wang Haohan and Sun Pingfang's room.

The other three rooms were occupied by Zhou Cheng and Niu Dawei, Peng Xiaoyue and Li Haixia, and Gu Ling had become accustomed to living alone.

The room she lived in happened to be next to Sun Pingfang and Wang Haohan's room.

Because there were many things to tidy up for the wedding banquet, Gu Ling and Li Haixia were busy cleaning. When Lu Yanchen called for help, a group of people quickly joined in, and the work progressed rapidly. Li Haixia repeatedly expressed her thanks, but Gu Ling kept her head down, pursed her lips, and refused to make eye contact with Lu Yanchen.

The man stood at the kitchen door, not helping because of an injury to his hand. He watched Gu Ling, who was standing inside the kitchen, with a smile that seemed to carry some hidden meaning, his eyes filled with ease and reminiscence.

He vividly remembered how she had been soft and trembling in his arms last night, how she had breathlessly pleaded for him to stop. Each time he recalled it, he felt a dryness in his throat.

Especially now that Sun Pingfang and Wang Haohan were married, and the couple could openly be together, he inevitably had his own thoughts.

Of course, he wasn't in a hurry; he would go along with her.

Lu Yanchen didn't stay long at the kitchen door and left. Gu Ling's tense body finally relaxed after he departed.

In her original plan, she hadn't intended to progress to that stage with him so quickly. However, this man, who seemed upright on the surface, was actually smooth-talking and full of sweet words. Whenever she faced him, she couldn't argue with him at all!

Gu Ling quickly tidied up and returned to her own room, planning to get some good rest.

However, it was only eight o'clock, and she couldn't sleep. Under the oil lamp, she decided to review her mother's previous work notes.

While reading, Gu Ling also wrote her daily work log. Initially, she was very diligent, but suddenly she heard a strange sound coming from somewhere.

It seemed like... a woman crying?

Mixed with the sounds of furniture moving, she couldn't help but hold her breath. The sound became clearer and clearer.

Intermittent low gasps from a man, indistinct sobbing from a woman, and the unavoidable slight rocking of a wooden bed frame. Gu Ling's ears immediately turned hot!

She tortured herself to focus on reading, but little did she know that the newlyweds next door, perhaps burning with passion, had a quick round and soon after, another session began.
