A week before the meeting

Kyoto, Japan

3rd person POV

Inside of a cafe.

Shijo Makoto was sipping coffee all by himself as he looks at the window outside.

Just people walking about and cars moving by.

It was pretty peaceful.

At least until...

???: Are you Shijo Makoto, right?

Makoto: Hmm?

Just then, he was greeted by a man.

Yuuki Shouzou

Makoto: That's right and who are you?

Makoto: That's right and who are you?

Shouzou: Don't you remember? We've only met once overseas. We had a pretty long chat a while back.

Makoto: Ohhh you're Yuuki-san from RECT inc right?

Shouzou: So, you do remember me. Glad that you did.

Makoto: It has been years you know. Tell me, what are you doing here?

Shouzou: I just happen to notice a familiar face while I was trying to order coffee. Also, I'm here in Kyoto due to a secret meeting among the rich and powerful.

Makoto: You too?!

Shouzou: Hmm? You're going to attend as well?

Makoto: Of course. I was invited.

Shouzou: Same here.

Makoto: Honestly, I didn't think that I'd meet some familiar faces.

Shouzou: Anyways, while we're here. How is your daughter?

Makoto: She's currently studying in Stanford.

Shouzou: I see...

Makoto: What about your daughter? I bet she landed on a decent college given that you told me a while back that she's excelling pretty well in her studies.

Shouzou: Asuna? Yeah...she's doing okay.

Makoto: Hmm?

He felt something wrong at that moment.

Makoto: Are you okay? You don't sound so happy.

Shouzou: I apologize. It's just that...she hasn't contacted me in a year ever since moving in with her friend. I don't know if she's doing okay or not.

Makoto: Ohh...maybe Asuna is probably busy. College is pretty tough after all.

Shouzou: Maybe...

Makoto: Come on, cheer up. You're not the only one who hasn't gotten to contact their daughter in a long time. Maki hasn't spoken to me for a long time as well since going to college so we're both kinda on the same boat here.
