This is our first glance at the actual classes happening at this college. We already know she's smart, but we see that even more now.

During Battle Brief they're talking about the protective wards of the world faltering. This is why the dragons tolerate humans, I guess. To keep their own realm secure. But, during this class, she starts thinking about first-years getting called into service. So is this her prediction or sloppy foreshadowing?

Sparring matches start, and Jack (who threatened to kill her right away) killed someone on the mat. He's crazy, but wouldn't he have made more attempts to kill her if he really wanted to?

She gets her ass beat by someone with a rebellion mark. These are children of rebellion leaders who were killed. I get why the kids were inducted into the school, though. Give them the same chance, get them to be part of the world. Could they pose a threat in the future? There are still regulations to keep them in check, but why trust them enough to let them into the army and not show enough trust not to brand them as betrayers?
