Xaden is overbearing but in a different way from Dain. He's commanding, but it seems like he only cares for himself. He may just be practiced in hiding his feelings. Where Dain refuses to break the rules and sees Violet as weak, Xaden sees her weakness and wants to make her stronger for her own sake.
Xaden gives her daggers with Tyrian runes on them. This will definitely come into play later!
I am not a fan with how Yarros chooses to show that time is moving. She'll start chapters or paragraphs with "February flies by..." or "March arrived..."
There are better more effective ways of showing the passage of time.
Violet's dad was researching feather tails, and Violet knows where the notes are. That's important for sure.
