They are keeping it such a secret as to who opened the door. This suspense for the readers only works sometimes. I didn't guess it was Amber, only because we haven't seen much of her.
Dain was very upset for a squad leader and I can only suspect they had a very real thing for each other before Violet showed up. Dain's jealousy is evident as Vi is finally admitting she wants Xaden.
How can Tairn show her memory of Amber with everyone? The rules of this world are not well defined.
