Violet gets a huge confidence boost and stands up to Jack. But that's not my biggest issue in this chapter.
It's Dain. He just immediately starts freaking out and telling her what to do. Sure, he's her squad leader and friend, but he is too overprotective.
I was blindsided by the dragon mated pair thing. Great, now she's tethered to Xaden even more.
The Dain/Xaden/Violet exchange is pretty awkward. The actual scene and the writing of it. The internal narration doesn't quite match the outward dialogue.
OH DAIN. WTF?!
He admits he wouldn't break the rules to save Violet's life. Some friend you are. Acts like he wants to be with her but won't make that jump. I become less of a fan of his with each chapter I read.
