"Well that was an interesting night" I say as everyone walks in behind me
After cutting the cake, I could feel the tension between Aspen and Gavin. Aspen wouldn't say much when I asked and it seemed Gavin had enough going on with Ayla as they both sat in the corner talking to themselves throughout the rest of the night.
"Did you enjoy your night?' Isabel asks
"I did. Thank you guys" I say hugging her
I turn to Michael as everyone starts heading to their rooms.
"Thank you for coming" I tell him
"Of course. Ill see you in the morning?" He asks
I nod bringing him into a hug. I lock the door once he's back in the cab. I then turn around to face Ayla. She was standing quietly with her arms crossed waiting as I lock everything up.
"I'll see you in the morning" I say trying to head up the stairs
"Dylan wait" she says stopping me
I stop in my tracks as I'm halfway up the stairs. I turn to see her with an expression of guilt on her face. I walk back down to meet her more confused than ever right now.
"I know I've been a bitch to you and there's no excuse for it but I would really love it if we could sit down and have a conversation" she says with sincerity in her voice
I nod following her to the kitchen. She takes a seat at the kitchen table, waiting for me to join her.
"I'm really sorry for the way I've been treating you since we met. It wasn't fair of me to do that. It's mostly been out of jealousy because I know that you're Gavin's first love and I also know that he still loves you. I know he'll always love you and I let my jealousy take over and it wasn't right. I hope that we can start over and actually be friends this time" she says with a hopeful look on her face
"Oh wow, uh thank you for the apology. I'm also sorry if you've felt left out since joining our group. That was never my intention. I just have to ask, what happened tonight?" I ask her
"I just learned that Gavin has been keeping some things from me but it'll be okay. I'm just glad your night wasn't ruined" she says squeezing my hand softly
"My night wasn't ruined at all but is there anything you wanna talk about?" I ask
"No I think I'll be fine" she reassures me
"Let me know if you change your mind. I'll see you at breakfast"

Turning on my side, I'm met with the sound of the bedroom door opening and closing quickly. I open my eyes to see balloons everywhere, along with a note on my bedside table.
Good morning birthday girl
I hope you enjoyed your first surprise of the day. Whenever you're ready, join us downstairs for your second.
I smile, setting the note back down and grabbing my housecoat to go over my pajama set. As soon as I step out of my room, I can hear clacking and loud voices downstairs. I quickly and quietly make my way to the kitchen to see everyone working to finish up the breakfast buffet they had setup on the counter along with the flowers decorated around it and balloons to match. I then notice Sean and David with flour in their hair as they finish washing up whatever dishes had been dirty.
"How long do you think before she comes down?" Michael asks Aspen
"I'd say not long" she says smiling in my direction
She then comes over with a birthday sash and a stack of chocolate chip waffles, bacon, and eggs.
"Hope you're hungry" michael says holding out my chair for me
"Thank you. How long have you guys been up?" I ask curiously
"Two hours give or take" Isabel shrugs
"And how did you like the balloons?" Chris asks
"It was definitely a nice touch" I say smiling
"Well, finish your breakfast. We have a long day ahead" Sean says with a big smile
"Happy birthday Dylan" Ayla says smiling at me
I smile back before digging into my waffles. I can see Isabel and Aspen giving each other looks as Ayla heads back into her room
"When did you two become friends?" Aspen questions
"We had a conversation after everyone went to bed. We both decided it was time to start getting along and put the past behind us" I tell them with a mouth full of waffles
They both look at each other again as I ignore them for the food in front of me.
"I'm gonna help the guys finish cleaning. I'll be in the living room with everybody else waiting whenever you're ready" michael says coming up behind me with his hands on my shoulders
I nod as I continue eating my breakfast. Aspen and Isabel continue keeping me company until I'm done.
"Look, all I'm saying is just because she apologized doesn't mean she has good intentions. Just keep an eye out Dylan" Aspen warns me
"I wanna keep the faith but Aspen is not wrong. You shouldn't trust her right off the bat just yet" Isabel shrugs
"I understand guys but I never said I was gonna trust her fully so soon. We still haven't even spent any real time with this girl yet but we have to at least give her a chance" I tell them
"Maybe you're right" Isabel shrugs
"We will see but you my friend need to go get ready. Now"
