Playing Always Forever by Cults
You are falling behind. Way too far behind for my liking. Keep up.
I'll say it again for those who didn't follow.
They are doomed. Like fishes out of water, gasping and writhing for water as if they'll magically adapt to the new atmosphere.
Dead is what they'll be. I'll only say it once.
Because this sure as hell won't be the only time they fall victim to things beyond their control.
I guess we need to realise that we may never be safe again.
It wasn't supposed to go like this. It was supposed to be a flawless plan. But now we are fucking corned behind the school garage using whatever we can find to hoard off the 10 or so undead.
It was supposed to go well, listening to Felix's plan that he creates on a whim. But now they are stuck in a corner. They thought they had gotten a good grip of the situation.
But they were stupid. Almost Naive.
"Felix! Through the back door! We need to go into the garage and wait it out for now." Chan yelled, kicking an undead boy whose eyes were practically gorged out.
They went with the silent plan. But a certain someone dropped their metallic water bottle (Hyunjin) and it went down the drain. Just as they were so close.
"But the gate is right there! If we run we can make it—!" Hyunjin shouted over the groans of the zombie that he was currently stamping on, his face twisted in disgust.
As they warded off the zombies, they were caught of guard when we saw a man, a classmate we all knew very well to be a snobby school council figure, legging it past them. The zombies were mostly twitching their limbs as they carefully directed their eyes to the screaming man. Though their focus was still on their surroundings. They didn't even think of the fact other student would still be roaming the school.
"Heesung! It's dangerous! Don't!" Chan yelled out but the boy ignored him, heading straight to the gate.
"I won't die with you pathetic simpletons. I choose life and I don't care if I have to leave you all to die for my sake!" He didn't look back, nearing the gate quickly. He was bloodied and frantic, he looked half crazy as he almost tripped trying to get to the gate. It was rather frightening to see their usually composed student council now crazed with loss of mind.
"HEESUNG!" Chan shouted in panic. He didn't know the make well but they had spoken on a few occasions. Chan deemed him nice enough to call him a friend? But it didn't make him less of an asshole to most people.
"Chan if he doesn't want to listen that's whatever but we need to go, I see more coming." Minho said, ushering the group towards the back door of garage. Chan cursed before they were all running to the garage and locking the door. They didn't even take a proper look around it before they had their faces pressed against the window they had view of the gate.
Heesung had made it to the gate, smiling in mock celebration before it was almost wiped off his face. It would have been a mystery to what he was looking at if a bulky, large undead zombie didn't immediately grasp his shoulders as throw him onto the ground.
"W-what! N-no no wait!" He panicked, scrambling to his feet in an attempt to run away. The beast was large, with jaws and teeth as sharp as knives. It had no hair on its head,Looking barely human as it snapped it's canines looking at the human. It's eyes were yellow, with red dirty pupils that shrank so small from hunger that they were barely visible. It's skin was like it had melted off and been pulled back on it's face with force, blood tricking from each rip from each movement.
It's body was off a skeleton, it's skin pulled into its ribs with blood spilling at each curve and move. It's hands and feet were covered in deep fresh blood that painted the grey gravel beneath it. It had sharp claws, yellow and filthy as it dragged it feet.
Chan whimpered in terror, his breath hitching as he watched the boy cry and plead. He almost felt as if it were him infront of the beast. He wanted to scream. He wanted to save Heesung.
"Please! Please don't hurt me!" Heesung's face filled with tears when he felt the monsters sharp nails dig into his scalp. It held no emotion other than hunger, no sympathy, just a look of pure cruelty.
He choked a sob, now staring face to face with the monster. Yet the monster didn't do anything but bring its bloodied lips together and whistle. He hung helplessly from its grip, the monster hanging him above ground like meat on a rack.
The group in the shed covered their ears as they watched, something burning their stomachs enough to make them quiver. They had never seen anything like this. It was almost like a movie yet this was real life.
They was silence,
Until it wasn't. they could hear Atleast a swarm thud on the ground coming in their direction. Heesung shrieked, pale as he watched 50 or so zombie storm their way.
He begged, screaming as he tried to be set free. "Someone save me! Please!" He reached up to pull himself free from its grip, swinging pitifully as his movements became more messy and frantic. He sobbed, screaming as his scalp tore from the grip on his hair.
Chan urged forward for the door but was stopped when he was held back by firm hands. He couldn't even bring himself to look who it was, just urging forward with a string coil of guilt in his throat.
"Chan. Don't do it." Seungmin said quietly, honest to god not knowing what he was doing.
Chan shook his head, this isn't fair. He couldn't watch someone die knowing he did nothing to help. His voice wavered, wet and trembling, "No that's not fair. I need to help him." He huffed another panicked breath, it was so caught up in his airway that he choked a wet sniffle.
He could feel his eyes wetter than usual, his heart thumping in his chest as they were subjected to listen. Listen to a human being, like them, die a terrible death.
"No!" And the herd was at him, ripping at his flesh with their teeth as they ate him alive. He screamed as he felt his skin torn off his body. It hurt so bad. Tears kept streaming down his paling cheeks, clenching his cheeks to endure the feeling of his skin being taken apart.
"I don't want to die! Please! NO!" He reached a bloody hand up but was pulled by the weight of 40 more zombies feasting on him.
"PLEASE!"
"Look away."Changbin said lowly as He watched Jeongin, Minho and Chan choke tears. Though most didn't really know the man he was still human. He had a life and a family. And he was slowly being devoured alive. They couldn't bring themselves to look away even if they tried.
Chan looked away though, swallowing the vomit that rose in his throat. Hyunjin stumbled back, Vomiting in the a dark corner as Minho pat his back. Jisung slid down the wall, head in his hands as he tried to erase the scene from his memories.
Jeongin started to cry, leaning on Chan who also quietly sobbed with his hands to his ears. Seungmin and Changbin only looked away, anywhere but the scene they had watched. And Felix couldn't look away, eyes staring straight blurry at the now dead Heesung who was torn apart with lifeless eyes and tear stained cheeks.
The realisation cut deeper into the tension as they sit in silence. They might never see the sun beyond the horizon with security ever again. But a shared thought is a there like a mantra.
I don't want to die.
I can't die.
I wont die.
AN:
Wow how violent. Well I hope y'all sleep good tonight.😘Also why was Chan so effected by Heesung? Or maybe it wasn't Heesung but the zombie itself? Who knows🤷🏽♀️
