The wings of freedom,
imprisoned but the scales of deceptions.
The snake and the crow.
They were back in town, letting Jiho lead them like a tour guide as Soobin stayed back to explain what had happened in town.
"When the zombies began to break out, it took most of us by surprise. At the beginning, we were confused. I mean—humans—just like us began to eat each other like they had lost their minds." His eyebrows furrowed as he looked to be thinking back to the day it all started. Changbin was Beside him, not bothering to listen to Jihos half-assed tour guiding. "But when everyone began to catch on, probably from the crazy amount of zombie movies we've watched, everyone was in a hurry to leave, something about an announcement that made them pack up faster? I'm not sure what it was. And with them, went the zombies right after. Chasing after the people who tried to escape. That's why places like these are so abandoned. Only a few people and zombies stayed here."
That's why the town over was practically abandoned. The unknown announcement was definitely something to think on, especially if the government were involved. Changbin looked over to chan who looked to be looking just as interested. They needed to find out what that announcement was. Maybe even find the source of this whole mess.
"How come you guys stayed? Did you even try to escape?" Jisung piped up, making the three turn to where the others seem to also be listening. Soobin pulled an unreadable face, his lip twisting a moment before he answered.
"We had a reason to stay here. We couldn't leave." His expression left no room for questions or comments as he moved past Jisung to where Jiho was looking at Hyunjin.
"Well let's head and get some good food for us to bring back home. And we'll figure out what we are doing from there." Chan nodded to the group, as they all followed Jiho to the deserted part of town.
Soobin hung back next to Changbin, watching as they all practically dispersed into the store with empty bags.
He waited a moment, as if waiting for the moment were there would be silence for them to talk. Changbin didn't interrupt the silence either, expecting something it seemed.
Jiho glanced their way, his face showing nothing as his eyes moved between the two passively before back to watching the group.
"What is the plan?" Soobin spoke quietly, tilting his head in Changbin's direction but not directly looking at him.
Changbin hummed, tongue poking his cheek as his eyes followed Chans movements from beside Jeongin. They were stuffing their bags with food like ramen and easy meals to make.
"There isn't one...for...what you're thinking." Soobin turned sharply in his direction, eyes now narrowed as he stared into the side of the shorter brunette.
"What do you mean? We need a plan." His voice wasn't louder but his tone was something more. Desperate? Annoyed? Suspicious? Something along those lines.
"It's not the focus right now. Nor will I drop everything for him. I said you guys should do the same." His eyes dropped to the floor, as low as his tone, "You just don't listen."
Soobin cleared his throat, now nervous as he took his eyes away from the brunette.
"Sorry..." he coughed out, "it's just—!"
"Leave it Soobin. There's no point now is there?" Changbin turned to the taller, eyes pointed and cold as if they had frozen over.
Soobin could only half meet his gaze, having half the mind to look away but the disrespect wouldn't be great. So he attempted to at least keep the glare.
His face was icy, dark eyes that seemed to see war as if he was looking right through Soobin. There was something deep in the two glass orbs that viewed the world. Something so imbedded that the eyes began to look like a cage to the fury inside it.
He clicked his tongue, not caring in the slightest how he might look to the taller. He was past the point of caring. Why would he when the world's been fucked over.
"Leave it behind. Leave this behind. There's no on—nothing to keep you here now. You tell the others that." He left no room for argument, no matter how much Soobin wanted to argue back. "You don't need to follow me around anymore."
With that, he stepped back, turning his eyes back to the scene infront of him, where the group chatted over the exciting food discoveries. Soobin couldn't help but notice the way the ice in his eyes didn't stand tall like usual. It melted.
"I've seen you before." Jiho nudged at the long haired brunette who looked up from where he sat on the floor by the spices. Hyunjin perked up, surprised that the man had even bothered to speak to him as up until now he hadn't spoken much.
Hyunjin didn't know him all too well, but he plastered on a smile. "Did you go to our school?"
Jiho's eyes squinted down at him, as if he was analysing his face before he was letting his lips twitch uncomfortably into something a far cry from a smile. Hyunjin only tried to return it, confusion swirling in his stomach from the poor show of a smile.
"Yeah. A year above you yet I've heard so much about you." Hyunjin nodded in understanding as if the information meant much to him. It didn't. "You're pretty. Just like the rumours." He quipped, leaning in the shelves as he attempted another poor attempt of a smile.
"Oh—thank you....Jiho?"
The man didn't answer, a smirk now in the place of his odd smile as his eyes wandered lower. Odd.
He didn't say much after that, a weird, uncomfortable looking smile on his face as he walked away. Odd.
Sorry it's so short. I've just gotten a new job and I've basically been working everyday since the 22nd. I'm exhausted and I've been so drained, too drained to write. Hopefully I'll be able to give yall something better than this. But don't worry, I'm still working on this book till it's finished, just so very slow now that I'm working.
