The Three Sages.

First and foremost, I would like to ask for you forgiveness, Robert. You will certainly never see this, you will never see anything again. I knew the plan would prove unsuccessful. I knew and yet I kept silent. Perhaps if I had said something you would still be alive, and the burden of being the Sage wouldn't fall on Shaun. If only you knew how much has changed since then. There was never a Hero. Still, you have done for us more than anyone else could have. Your empty place, along with the other Sages, can never be filled. You are mere memories now; ghosts drifting amongst words left behind.

For those who have only now heard of this remarkable group, it was three individuals known as the Three Sages. It was quite early on, when the Fears were first beginning to establish Their presence and authority. Specifically, the Tall One. Scrambling for a way to defeat the nightmare, many proposed that there was a "Hero" meant to wield the "weapon" that would defeat Him. And so formed the Three Sages, tasked with guidance and guarding this sacred weapon. But the Hero never came. For the Tall One was not a thought form as they suspected. No, He was so much more.

Robert had managed to be the first non-servant to find his way into the Path, and one of the first to truly return alive. As for Jay and Shaun, I do not even wish to think of them and their fate. Such memories are best buried. But the Three Sages served as a foundation for the Fighters, Runners and Gatherer's Factions. They did more than guide; they saved lives. And they changed the world forever. Without their sacrifice we would not have come so far in terms of knowledge and strength. How painful it is to remember them as if it was yesterday. Those of you who were there and recall it, I ask you to pay tribute to the true heroes. We may have never found our "Hero" but we had many amongst us.

How disappointed they would be, if they saw me now. "Hallowed out" by the very thing we tried to destroy. I was never worthy of the title you bestowed upon me with such faith, Shaun. How naive we all were back then.
