(Note: Lachlan is pronounced like, "Lock-Lynn. Just a heads up. Oh! And Lachy= "Lock-y" got it? Good.)
After getting up in the morning and eating breakfast, all which was very uneventful, it was time for Cordelia, Brighton, and I's party. The Prince of Australia was to be here at 5:00 pm. My group really didn't have to do anything to set up. It was much more peaceful than planning it out. We just had to give our instructions to the official palace party planner and we just sat back and waited for questions.
They sat us at a table on the roof, since that was where the party was being held. People were busy setting up tables, decorations, and lights, since the party was going into the late night, and maybe even into the early morning.
The first maid to came to us had a question about the flower arrangements. "How do you want the flowers to be set up?" We had two different kinds of flowers.
Cordelia piped up first. "We want them both together in one vase and the vases should be in the middle of each of the round tables. No vases on the rectangle tables." The maid nodded and hurried away to tell everybody else. Cordelia seems to be feeling better about her dad and brother missing and possibly dead. I feel awkward talking to her, though.
"This is so easy." I say. "I feel like I should be helping them."
"Me too." Brighton says back.
"They're maids and butlers. They're born for this." Cordelia scoffs. Ahh, there's the old Cordelia I dearly missed after her dad and brother went missing.
A butler comes up and asks us which lights we would prefer. After we decide together, he walks away. Then somebody unexpected walks up to our table: Rhode.
Our conversation about nothing in particular stops and we all look at Rhode. He shuffles his feet a little, but then catches himself doing it and stops. "I would like to talk to Cordelia please... If you're not too busy."
Cordelia sends a little smirk Brighton's and my way. "Not at all." She takes Rhode's arm and together they walk away.
Brighton turns her chair towards me and I do the same, turning my chair towards her. "I bet it's to send her home." Brighton says.
I giggle. "It's not to send her home! Why would he do that right before the party?"
She takes that into consideration. "Maybe he just hates her that much." She jokes.
"Oh, come on! He loves her."
"He loves you." She says back.
"Excuse me?"
"He doesn't love me. It's obvious. You've been the favorite since the start. And... I'm not quite sure if I like him. I honestly don't know why I'm still here." She explains quietly.
I think back to when Brighton and I were fighting and Rhode almost sent her home, but didn't because I communicated to him silently to keep her. Is that the only reason why she's still here? Because of me?
"Nonsense!" I say. "He doesn't love anybody yet. And I'm sure he likes you at least a little bit."
"He hasn't asked me on a date in three weeks."
"He's been busy." I argue.
"Going on dates with you." She mumbles.
I laugh a little. I'm about to say something back, but Rhode and Cordelia are walking back to the table. I hear a bit of their conversation before they stop talking and get to the table. "So we'll be searching for them. Day and night. I promise, darling." Rhode is saying to Cordelia. They must've been talking about her family.
"Thank you." Cordelia says and that's when I notice little tear stains under her eyes. Was she crying?
The palace events planner comes by and tells us that they have everything from there and we don't need to be there anymore. I say a quick thank you and go up to my room. It's about lunch time, but I want to take my lunch in my room.
I get my lunch delivered to me from some guards and they leave. My maids are in the sewing room, making finishing touches on my dress for tonight's party. It's midnight blue, like I planned with Cordelia and Brighton. We decided on midnight blue because it's the Prince's favorite color. I wonder if the prince would let us call him by his first name, Lachlan, like Rhode did.
Before I know it, I'm finished with my lunch and I have nothing left to do until 4:45, when I am supposed to go with the rest of my group up to the roof for the party to greet people.
About an hour of reading later, at 4:00, my maids come up to my room from the sewing room to get me ready.
"Here's the midnight blue dress you requested, miss."
I pull off the dress cover and I'm met with the most beautiful dress I have ever seen. It's the most elegant shade of midnight blue material. It shone with sparkles that reminded me of stars in the night sky.
"Oh, thank you!" I say, hugging each of them.
"No problem, miss. Now let's get you in it. We don't really have much time."
I nod and they help me into the dress, do my hair, and put on my makeup.
I finally get to look in the mirror. I gasp at what I see. I look... Beautiful. The dress flows around my ankles and it looks great with my skin tone. I smile at my reflection.
"Thank you so much." I say, hugging each one of them.
I meet Brighton in the hallway around 4:30.
"You look so good!" She exclaims.
"You're not too bad yourself." I giggle. I look at her plain midnight blue dress and I'm kind of glad that I have some sparkle on my dress. I silently thank my maids for helping me stand out a little, but not too much.
Speaking of too much...Cordelia walks out of her door and into the hallway... In a full ballgown with sparkles, rhinestones, and ruffles. It's all too much.
She smirks when she sees our outfits. "I guess the Prince of Australia will just be noticing me."
"Shut up." Brighton snaps back and starts up the stairs.
"Uh... I agree." I quickly say before rushing up the stairs after Brighton.
Uh... I agree. That's so stupid! What the heck were you thinking? Lost in my own thoughts, I almost run right into Brighton's back.
"Woah..." She breathes out, looking at the roof.
I stand on my tiptoes to see what she's staring at and gasp. "This is perfect."
All the helpers had set up the roof exactly how we wanted it for the Prince of Australia's birthday party. There were tables, both rectangular and circular, with cases with of flowers. There were pretty lights illuminating everything and there was a place to dance. This is just how I imagined it would be.
I hear Cordelia impatiently huff behind me, "hurry up already."
Brighton and I climb the rest of the stairs up to the roof. There are some guards and butlers there already in position for the party scheduled to start in ten minutes.
Within the next few minutes, Queen Lilliana, King Branson, Princess Ophelia, and Rhode arrive. So do the other twelve selected. The band starts to play music while we're waiting for the royals from Australia to arrive.
Finally, after what seems like half an hour, the Australian royal family walks up the stairs. I can't help but notice how elegant the king and queen look, with the prince right behind them.
I look at Brighton and Cordelia, both on my left and silently ask them if we should go greet them. They nod and I take that as my cue to go up to them.
I'm so nervous to meet more royals and I'm hoping that they won't notice how shaky my hands are. Once we arrive in front of them, Cordelia takes charge.
"Welcome to Illéa's palace. I'm Cordelia. This is Brighton and Caspian." She says, pointing to us. I'm trying to smile, but it's really weird when Prince Lachlan and his parents are staring at me. "We set up the party, so if you have any questions, you can come ask us." She puts on her most dazzling smile.
The royals all smile and the King and Queen of Australia walk away with Cordelia and Brighton while Prince Lachlan stays where he's at. I take a chance and say, "Happy 19th birthday, Your Highness."
He does a lopsided smile. "Thanks. But call me Lachlan. I'm not into all this royalty formalities." He says in the best Australian accent I've ever heard.
I look him right in his brown eyes and I smile. So he will let us call him Lachlan.
Rhode walks over to us and ruffles Lachlan's brown hair. At some points his hair almost seems blonde. "How's my Little Lachy doing? Finally 19!" Rhode laughs.
Lachlan laughs, too. "Shut up. Or else I'll start calling you Rhodie in front of all these girls." He motions around us and that's when I notice a small horde of selected around us. I laugh and politely excuse myself.
Walking over to Brighton by the Queen of Australia and Queen Lilliana, a butler hands me a glass of champagne. I don't drink alcohol, but I also think it might seem rude if I put it back, so I try taking a quick sip of it and immediately I want to spit it out. Why do people even like this sort of thing? I make myself swallow the sip, but I did have a weird look on my face the whole time to make sure I didn't throw up.
I hear somebody walk up from behind me. "Don't like alcohol?" I turn around to be met with Lachlan, the owner of the Australian voice that I just heard.
"Well... Not exactly." I say, frowning at the champagne in my hand.
"Neither am I." He confesses, smiling again. "How about I go get you some punch? Good?" He asks.
"Oh no you don't!" I exclaim. "You're the guest. I'll get it."
He smirks. "Too bad I'm already on my way. Maybe next time?"
I laugh. "Sure. But I better not get marked down for this!" I half-yell after him, since he's already near the drinks.
Rhode walks over to me and sees me looking at Lachlan. "He's pretty cool, right?"
I nod. "Funny, too. So how long have you known him?"
"Since we were four, I think. We've known each other for a long time, and yet I've never gotten sick of him."
I nod in understanding and see Lachlan come back with two cups of punch, one for him and one for me. I'm wondering where to put the glass of champagne when Rhode takes it from my hands. "I've got this, darling. Save me a dance?"
"You bet." I can't help but think back to earlier this morning when he called Cordelia darling, also.
Rhode walks away and Lachlan hands me a cup. "Rhode's my best mate." I take a sip of the punch, listening to his words. "If I were a girl and had to date a guy, I'd definitely date him." I almost choke on my punch. He laughs at the state I'm in.
"You're so adorable." He says and I can't help but blush.
"Thanks... Little Lachy." I joke.
He groans. "Rhode! I hate you! Now every girl's gonna call me Little Lachy!" He fake-pouts as he yells across the rooftop to Rhode.
Rhode just looks away from his conversation with Brighton and says, "Luv ya too, Lachy!"
Lachlan laughs and turns back to me. "See? We're best mates."
I nod, still laughing at their bromance.

Hey everybody!!! So what do you think of Lachlan? I personally like him.
I just wanted to see how you all were. I just went on vacation last week. To Mexico! Are you guys going on vacation? I've got my mother to agree to take me to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter one year and I'm super excited, even though it's probably gonna be in two years. (P.s. If you're going to say anything about Harry Potter, just a warning that I only have the fourth book finished and I'm working on the fifth one, so no spoilers!)
Anyway, just wanted to see how you all are doing and stuff. Yeah. Totally. You bet.
Luv ya long time,
KatnissMellark_ (or you can call me Emma. We're all friends here, right?)
Also, that's my favorite Bromance at the top: Percy Jackson and Jason Grace!
