I lay down in from of the small television with my brother, sister, and dad. The Report is on today, the day before the Selected are announced. Today, the "host" , Arden, is asking the royal family questions about the nearing Selection.
I lay on the ground, in front of my father on the couch. Amphora sits next to our father and Umben on the other side of him. They say there is enough room, but I want to spread out and lay down.
The royal family looks nice, but nothing like my family. There's King Branson, who looks totally in love with Queen Lilliana. They love each other so much, it's evident even through the tv screen: the way the hold hands, hug, and even just look at each other. They seem like nice people and I believe that they rule justly.
Then there is Princess Ophelia. Her personality just screams "royal". She's elegant, poised, and graceful. Even if I made it into the Selection, I know I could never be as sophisticated as her.
And finally, Prince Rhode. He seems detached, like he isn't actually there. I never see any emotion on his face. I know I entered the Selection, but sometimes I find myself wondering why I even filled out the form because I know I have no feelings for him at all. I think I just wanted to get away from my life, not start a new one with somebody else.
I pop my attention back to the television when I hear;
"So, Prince Rhode, what do you look for in your future wife?" It's Arden speaking.
I sigh. I know what Prince Rhode will saw. "Blah blah perfect blah blah blah beautiful blah" so I decide that I am going to list everything wrong with Prince Rhode as he answers the question:
"Well, Arden, she would be pretty" starts Prince Rhode.
Self-centered, I think to myself
"Smart"
Dispassionate
"Funny"
Concealed personality
"And last of all, elegant." He finishes as I list off the final trait that I dislike about him:
Robotic. Everything about him is calculated.
"Well," laughs Arden, "that's quite a lady you have dreamed up. I hope the Selected fit your expectations. And we will find that out tomorrow, right?"
"You're right, Arden. I cannot wait to meet my future wife in a week or so." He responds back.
"Well, you heard it here, everybody!" Arden speaks to the audience as Prince Rhode gets up and goes back to his chair next to his sister, "the Selection is upon us and everybody is excited!"
He walks over to Princess Ophelia and says, "Well, except for you, I hear."
Princess Ophelia grimaces as she responds back with, "I believe that it would be better for all of Illéa if we would hold off the Selection until everybody is more mature" she says, casting a glance over at Prince Rhode.
"Well I think Prince Rhode over here will behave himself and so will all the girls..." Arden says. "Hopefully" he adds, earning a few laughs from the crowd.
"Well that's all the time we have for today! You'll see us tomorrow when we announce the 35 beautiful girls who will compete for the love of Prince Rhode! Thank you for joining us for this special Report. Until next time. Bye" Arden says as the whole Royal Family waves. Then the screen goes black. We don't have enough money for extra channels, so we can only tune in for Reports.
One more day. Then my whole life could change, all with the sound of my name on the television. Or I could stay with my normal life. All there is left to do is wait.I hope you enjoyed this chapter. I know it's kinda short, but with me being sick for the past two days, I just needed rest and time to finish my homework I missed. Until next time,
Best wishes, KatnissMellark_
