Thursday October 26th
Harry's POV

"Look who decided to show up" I fake smiled at Bonnie, surprised that she actually came. Thursdays were typically a day she got a full body massage or went to one of those Pilate classes she spends all my money on. I assumed when I called her and told her that she needed to sit with Stevie today that I would get just another lousy excuse, but she actually came.

"Harry dear, no need for the comments" She put on her nice voice in front of Stevie, kissing my cheek. She set her bag down on the counter, making herself comfortable in the small room that Stevie and I currently call home. "Laurie is not happy that I had to cancel our lunch date"

"Poor Laurie" I sighed disappointedly, clearly being sarcastic. Bonnie glimpsed at me with a scowl, not liking my attitude, but oh well. I had important things to worry about today such as patients and my child, rather than Laurie not getting to eat a bowl of salad.

"Mommy, come sit!" Stevie waved her over excitedly, always happy when her mom arrives.

Today is my first day back at work since Stevie started her next round of chemo. It's been over a week, as I took more time off after Stevie suffered from her seizure. It didn't feel right to get back to surgery after she went through that so soon, so I took a few extra days this time. But I still didn't feel 100% about leaving her.

Some can say it's that I'm overprotective over her, but last weekend truly proved that you never know what could happen. I practically called Bonnie this morning demanding that she sits with Stevie at the hospital today, just so somebody could keep her company. Plus, it gives Bonnie an opportunity to keep an eye on her, since she feels I failed at that recently.

Bonnie took a seat on Stevie's bed, and I went to go give my favorite girl goodbye hugs. I wrapped my arms around her and gave her a forehead kiss, not wanting to let go and have to endure an entire shift. I wanted to just sit and be with my lovebug all day long, but I wasn't able to do that unfortunately. I regretfully let go and looked at her monitors, double and triple checking each number was exactly where it should be.

"There's pancakes and fruit being dropped off for her, make sure she drinks plenty of water. Keep an eye on her temperature, and if she throws up or anything, you call me immediately. All her activities are over there, same with change of clothes. There's snacks as well she can have" I rattled off everything I knew to Bonnie, nervous.

"We'll be fine. Stevie tell daddy we'll be okay" Bonnie poked Stevie's side, making Stevie giggle.

"We're okay daddy" Stevie listened, giving me a big smile.

"I know sunshine" I kissed her forehead again. "I'll be back soon, okay? I love you more than....stars love the moon"

"Pretty stars" Stevie commented in awe, looking up at the ceiling as if they were there. "I love you more than...princess memory"

"Lots of loving" I smiled at her, slowly backing out of the room. I didn't want to take my eyes off her, but at last my back collided against the door to leave her room, and I knew I had to go. I blew her a bunch more kisses, before opening the door and giving a final wave. I shut the door behind me gently, and sighed, knowing it was now time to start the craziness of the day.

I did hope though that today was quiet. With everything going on between Stevie, and Bonnie, and even Mallory, my brain was running on not a lot of sleep. If today could go as smooth as possible, I would be very grateful. However this hospital is unpredictable, and my hopes weren't awfully high.

I also wasn't working on pediatrics today. I was needed to fill in for our NICU team today, so pediatrics was still in Dr. Placks hands for today. It's not uncommon that I'm working on NICU because I am double board certified in peds and NICU, but I do miss peds when I do. I like working with the babies, but I feel more at home on peds. I don't know if it's because I get to be on the same ward as Stevie or because I typically have bonds and relationships formed with the kids over there, but I preferred it.
