Chapter 24
Monday September 18th
Harry's POV

"Can you ask Ellie for new movies?" Stevie perked her head up to look at me. The ending credits of the 12 Dancing Princesses was playing for the 100th time in the past week. I looked down at her and her hopeful smile, not having the heart to tell her that Ellie has been discharged from the hospital and the last time I spoke to her was a few weeks ago.

I hated lying to her, but I did. "Of course sunshine"

I made a mental note to look up more princess movies later on for us to watch together.

"Yay" Stevie smiled, and I was glad that she was finally getting a bit more of her movement back. She had a dose of chemo one week ago today, and it had her feeling pretty yucky. She didn't do much of anything beside sleep for days, and watch the same movie over and over of course, and it always upset me to watch my little angel be in pain.

Thankfully, yesterday I started to see more of my usual happy little girl back. "What do you want to do now?"

"A game" She answered, surprising me slightly, but I was glad she felt up for it.

"Sure baby" I untangled myself from her and went to the table we had in here that housed all of her activities. I try to bring new things for her to do often when she's cooped up in the hospital room, especially since it is rare I get to spend all my time with her. I just like to make sure that she always has things to keep herself occupied with on days that I'm working, but luckily the last few days I've taken some time to be strictly with her.

Well, besides the newborn baby that Monroe was working on.

When Stevie fell asleep last night, I let myself back in the NICU and cradled the baby the same way I had earlier in the day. It was rewarding to watch her numbers improve each time that I was holding her, and it also reminded me of when Stevie was little. It wasn't the first time that I was holding a sick little girl in my arms, and with my job, it unfortunately wouldn't be the last.

"Which game?" I asked, waiting for her answer.

She stared at the options in deep thought, before eventually pointing to one. I complimented her choice and took my spot on the bed next to her, opening up the little baggy the pieces were stored in. Stevie watched as I laid the little square cards face down one by one, until we had a few rows of unknown pictures that were waiting to find their match.

"I go first" Stevie declared, even if it was my original plan. I told her to go ahead, and she flipped over a card, revealing Snow White. She looked intensely at all the other cards laid out in front of her before deciding on another card. Sadly, it was Cinderella and there was no match made.

"My turn" I flipped her cards back over and then began my own turn. I also didn't get lucky and find a match on my first turn, but I just so happened to locate the second Snow White card. With excitement the game went back to Stevie.

"Hm" She giggled quietly. Her little fingers re-turned over the Snow White I had chosen, and then seconds later found the first one to complete her match. She grinned wide and grabbed the two cards putting the pair in her lap, excitedly telling me that she found the first match.

"My smart girl" I leaned down and kissed her cheek. "Alright, go again"

"Ooh! A princess crown" Stevie gasped at what she revealed, even though we have played this game a hundred times together. I still loved watching the amusement on her face each time. It's just so in character for four year olds.
