Chapter 34
Monday October 16th
Harry's POV

"I won again!" Stevie cheered as she clapped her hands together.

"You sure did" I poked her side gently, grabbing the few pairs of princesses that I had made. "You're the best at this game"

She giggled, my favorite sound on the entire planet. "Yeah"

I only had enough time for two games on princess memory because I had to get back to all my patients. I had a busy day of surgeries that began shortly, but I never missed an opportunity to spend time with my sunshine. She was the light of my every day which is exactly why her nickname was perfect for her.

Stevie helped put the cards away, and then grabbed onto my arm to prevent me from getting up. I frowned, wishing that I could just sit with her all day as well, but I had to get back to work. Bellamy's mom insisted I return to her room so she can ask me a gazillion more questions, which I wasn't looking forwards to, but I had to anyways.

"I know Stevie Love" I mumbled, rubbing her back with my free hand. "It makes me sad too"

"Can you call mommy?" She asked quietly, her words muffled into my scrubs. It truly ached on my heartstrings that she always feels alone in here, but I didn't know what else to do. I highly doubted Bonnie would take care of her the way that she needed to be taken care of if I sent her home. I could hire a nurse to stay at the house, I could afford it, and it would bring me peace of mind knowing she would be looked after should she be home.

But I selfishly would miss being apart from her so much.

"I'll call her, but she's probably working baby" I lied, in hopes that she wouldn't get her hopes up. I'm sure if I checked the security cameras that Bonnie would be sitting there with a mimosa in hand, comfortable on the couch, watching some version of real housewives.

I really just wished I had a wife that wanted to be apart of our family as much as I do.

"Okay" Stevie agreed, sniffling. She pulled away from me and got comfortable in her bed, preparing to say our goodbyes. I started to look around at the monitors and for any new marks on her skin, doing my overly paranoid fatherly inspection before I left the room.

"Hey, can I come in?" A nurse poked her head in the door.

"Nurse Holly!" Stevie smiled widely as her favorite nurse walked in. Seeing as though Stevie has been in and out of hospitals since she's been born, and the fact that she's my daughter, Stevie has gotten pretty close bonds with the nurses here. She and I both trust a select few of them, and they are the only people that I want in charge of her care. I didn't care what anybody had to say about that.

"Hello sweetheart" Holly smiled at her. She closed the door behind her and headed over to the bed. "Hello Dr. Styles"

"Hey" I nodded at her. "Is something wrong?"

"No, just here to take some blood for labs. Dr. Hadi wanted some before her next chemo cycle" Holly answered my question. "Is now an okay time?"

"I was about to leave, so yeah" I agreed. It was important and needed to be done, and I'd rather it be done now unprompted when I'm here, rather than have Stevie go through it alone when I'm in surgery. Stevie was a strong little girl, but she's still only 4 years old going through something so life affecting, and I promised to be there every step that I could.
