Chapter 62
Wednesday November 29th
Harry's POV

It was minutes later that we put Lizzy back in her wheelchair, and brought her down to the waiting room where her parents currently sat. They were alone now, their conversation with the social worker over and finished with. I had gotten a message from the social worker as we were in the elevator, who cleared Heather and James and attached a bit more details for me as well. I was only able to skim over it while we were on the way down, but it did ease my anxieties and concern.

"Mrs. and Mr. Rollins, this is Dr. Herrera. Head of OBGYN, I invited her to take a look at Lizzy's CT scan" I introduced Herrera, who gave a polite smile and handshake.

"Okay, okay. What did you find?" Heather asked nervously, her hand resting on her chin in a bit of anxiety. Us 5 adults were just a few feet away from Lizzy to discuss privately without any chimed in comments from her, but she wasn't that far.

"Lizzy is bleeding internally" I said plainly, wanting to give them the news as efficient as possible so that we could get her into an OR. There was a chance she could completely bleed out at a moment's notice, and I wanted to prevent that from happening. "There's severe trauma to her abdomen"

"If you're still suggesting that we hit her, we went over all of this with the social worker" The dad defended themselves without hesitation. "I don't know how to make you believe us"

"Social services cleared you" I informed him. "I hope you understand it was just protocol, however Lizzy is pretty badly hurt and we do need to operate right away"

"Operate?" Heather gasped, her hand slightly shaking. "Oh my god"

"Lizzy may have a chromosomal condition that causes her to not feel pain when she gets injured. That may explain why she gets hurt so often. I'll need to do genetic testing to be sure, but it's safe to assume she will need to be closely monitored from now on"

Because there's no cure.

"So surgery is the only option?" Heather asked to confirm, seeming a bit nervous for Lizzy's well-being.

"Yes. I know today has been a lot, but you need to trust me" I answered confidently. I need this kid in the OR right now.

"Dr. Styles?" Mallory's voice rose from the corner.

"Yes Monroe?" I answered, pretending to be a bit impatient for the sake of Lola being here. Lola is well aware I don't like when interns interrupt me, and if I gave any other response to Mallory, she would be the person to catch on.

"Lizzy is gone" Mallory stated, making all of us look out the doorway to see an unoccupied wheelchair. I internally groaned, this would exactly be something Lizzy would do. She's not been difficult, but she's been unexpected, and unfortunately this is something I should have seen coming.

"Oh my god where did she go?" Heather gasped, instant expressions of fear and worry written over her face.

"We'll find her" I told her assertively. There's no way she could have gone far, we've only been talking for a few minutes. Surely someone had to have seen her make her way down the hallway and will tell us which direction she went. "Monroe, get the other interns and spread out"

"Yes Dr. Styles" Mallory answered, pulling out her phone to page her little friends. I gave a knowing look to Lola and the two of us raced out of the room like wildfire, going two different directions to cover more ground. With the amount of us looking for her, we should find her in no time.
