Chapter 43
Monday October 30th
Mallory's POV

"Mallory, I have exciting news!"

"What is it?" I immediately turned to see Isabella, standing beside my locker and I, her cheerful smile always on her face in the early hours. I had just come inside from watching the sunrise this morning, so I was in a slightly good mood, but still nowhere near the level of happiness she exuded on a daily basis.

"Celebratory donut" She chuckled, handing me a bag that contained a breakfast treat. I peeked in the bag and saw a vanilla frosted with sprinkles, my favorite, and thanked her politely for the pick me up. I was even more interested now in what news she had to share with me if it was meaningful enough to warrant donuts.

"Hey, I want a donut" Mason scooted in to the locker room right on time, eyeing the bag that I was given. I playfully scoffed at him and moved the bag to my other hand, further from his reach.

"Shh, you're interrupting my good news!" Isabella shushed him, looking back at me with giddiness. "Beau asked me to be his girlfriend last night!"

"Oh my god!" I gasped out of genuine happiness for my friend. I definitely agreed with her that a celebratory donut was needed, and I crashed my arms around her in an embrace. I was really happy for the two of them that things were going perfect so far. Both Beau and Bella were really genuine people, some of the nicest in this hospital, and I could tell they'd be amazing together. Just the way they spoke about one another you could tell they were both smitten by the other, and it was so pure to watch unfold.

"I know! I said yes, obviously!" Isabella laughed.

"Aww Bella, I'm so happy for you guys" I told her sincerely, pulling back and giving her a wide grin. "You deserve it"

"Thank you Mallory" She beamed at me.

"What would your couple name be?" Mason asked.

"Are you back in middle school?" I chuckled.

"Bisabella" Mason suggested, then quickly shook his head to shut his own idea down. "No that's god awful"

"Well you have fun deciding that"

"Now Mal, we have to find you a doctor!" Isabella squealed, pulling on my arm to get my attention back with a small laugh.

If only she knew.

"I think I'm alright" I let her down gently, forcing myself to laugh to make it lighter.

"She's already covered" Mason smirked, interrupting our conversation yet again. I immediately shot him a glare, I thought that the two of us were on better terms now. I thought I was past having to worry about his nonsense, but I guess not.

"What?!" Isabella gasped, dropping her jaw and staring at me in shock.

"I'm kidding" Mason deadpanned, and if I didn't know, I would've believed him.

"Oh" Isabella slumped, seemingly believing him. It was a good thing she didn't continue to push it, but it didn't stop me from flicking Mason off and shooting him another death look.

"I don't have any room to talk" Mason chuckled, digging himself out of whatever hole he just dug. "I have my own doctor"

"Aren't all the woman attendings married or want nothing to do with you?" Isabella remarked with a look of feign disgust. I also looked at him confused, but I had no room to talk about the former portion. I was a willing player in whatever was going on with Harry, so I had no right to say anything here.
