Joining this gang is a blessing and curse.

Blessing because Ive made enough money to pay for a full ride at julliard. I got accepted and got my letter last week I haven't told the gang yet but when I do it'll be painful.

That's where the curse comes in.

See, for me to go to college and stay in college I can't risk being put in jail, caught with drugs, getting kicked out or worse expelled from the school.

So that means I have to quit the gang.

Also meaning I have to get jumped out of it. So it's a 50/50 chance I live after.

Also a curse because, yeah I get to go to school but my crush always asks to hang out, and I have to turn him down because those are always selling days or nights. And if I ask him he's always busy he says:

'Sorry but I can't, I have a job all the way on MLK & G street, even if I get off of work by that time, I won't make it cause it's so far.'

I always think he's lying though because what the fuck is a straight A student doing in Compton?! Like cmon I'm not stupid,

Why can't he just tell me he poor and we can get on with our lives.

Cause I know he ain't a drug dealer.

That's where most deals are done I would know of course lol but anyways....

I'm walking around the corner to get to my "job" when I bumped into someone.

"I'm so so- Oh Hey sia. " he said looking at me with his dreamy Grey eyes.

"It's cool jay but what up..." I asked.

"Look I know it's a day I usually don't have work and you were planning to quit so we could hang but I do and it's crazy they called me in a minutes ago answer I'm actually in a rush cause I gotta get my sta-stuff for work and going all the way I'm going I really need to go. So yeah I'll catch you later." He said.

"Oh it's all good I'm not feeling that good anyways I'll be staying home for a week or so anyways that's how bad it feels." I said grabbing my stomach to make it seem real.

"Oh wow I hope you feel better bestfriend, but I'll see you- goodbye. I love you....." he said running off as he looked at his phone.

"Love you too" I whispered back.

Yeah he's my bestfriend but after I joined this gang to get money for college and he got his job we haven't talked or hung out in forever we don't have sleep over or movie nights anymore it's sad.

We've known each other for 10 years we met in 2 grade I had just turned 7 and he turned 8 .

I miss him so much but......

I wonder why he said goodbye.

My work phone was going off.

Yeah they bought me a phone for the gangs use only.

"What up? " I said.
