Kellen POV;

The fight had been even, though with our side having the advantage in skills, we had eventually taken over. I was thoroughly impressed by the fighting skills of several wolves from different packs and expressed this fully felt, when the fight had ended.

The advantageous fighting from our side had given us the upper hand and we soon won the fight. Currently my father and I were talking, in human form, to a few of the Alphas, showing our gratitude to them for what they had done. However in my mind my wolf, knowing our mate was safe wasn’t enough to settle us, we wanted to see her again and I soon made the suggestion.

“Now that this has been dealt with I think it best we not make the ladies restless, I’m sure you are all eager to have your mates back and they likewise will probably be worried about you.” I turned to my father for agreement and could see that his wolf was, like mine, more than eager to return to their mate.

“Yes absolutely, if you’d like to follow us inside gentlemen,” spoke the King with authority. With that we headed inside and upon reaching us the safe room were met by two royal guards and three other wolves I recognized only by scents, due to my wolf having familiarized them while fighting outside; all were back in their human forms.

“We were incredibly impressed by your fighting gentlemen and we commend you for it. Thank you. You are here waiting for your pack’s mates, I take it?” I inquired.

“Thank you your Majesty and yes, indeed we are,” replied the man who I assumed to be the leader. Without any more hesitation the doors were opened and the ladies returned to their partners or the pack in which they belonged. I could tell by the smell in the air that my mate had not been in this room, near it yes but in it, no. This made both my wolf and myself furious. Immediately I phased into my wolf and sprinted out the door, not caring that I’d caused a commotion. I made a perimeter of the grounds looking for signs of my mate’s scent but I hadn’t spent enough time with her to become attuned to it, making the scent very patchy. This tortured me.

Phasing back, I returned to the ballroom where my family finished saying goodnight to the last of the Alphas; when the pack had taken leave I approached them. The look on my parent’s faces told me they knew what was wrong. “I can’t find her!” I growled before starting to pace.

“We guessed as much when you phased like that,” answered Mom. “I take it you couldn’t pick up her scent?”

“No” I snarled. “I haven’t spent long enough with her to become familiar with it, it’s very patchy,” my temper was beginning to get the better of me.

“We’ll find her son,” told my Father firmly, putting a hand on my shoulder and temporarily halting my pacing.

“I saw you say something to each other while you were dancing, what was it? Maybe it will help?” chirped in Arabelle, looking at me intently.

“Ana! She told me her name was Ana” without hesitation I rushed to the receptionist, George, who’d been in charge of the guest list.

“George!” I called upon reaching him, behind me my family followed and stopped.
