"What? Is she okay?"

"I thought those things only happen in the movies"

"What Happened?"

"Who would leave a child to fend for herself out in that weather?"

The lady looked down at the baby she was holding. Her eyes were closed, showcasing her long eyelashes. As she sucked on her thumbs and snuggled further into the blanket.

"I don't know why'd do such a thing" The lady mumbled.

"If we can keep it, can we name her Dawn" a small child came into view. She had soft grey eyes and her hair was grey besides the roots. If she didn't look like she was about 4 years old, I would have thought she dyed it.

"Why Dawn?" The ladies asked her. She smiled slightly and sauntered over to where the baby laid.

"Because" She murmured. "When you look into her eyes it's like watching the sun rise at the crack of Dawn"

Chapter 11 pt 2

Dawn's POV *

"Wait, how do you know Dawn's mother if Dawn doesn't even have a mother" I asked. I know it sounds weird but I was always told I never had a mother.

The ladies at the orphanage used to tell me that I was left on the orphanage doorsteps with a note attached. It say something along the lines of me not having parents so don't look for them, something like that.

"Dawn, I don't know if you've been in a sex Ed class or not – but everyone has a woman that gave birth to them" Mr. Castellano said. I snorted and rolled my eyes.

"Doesn't make her a mother" I mumbled, my eyes casting downward. I always did feel a bit out of place at school when they would hold something like parent teacher interviews or something involving parents.

I remember seeing Liberty's parents once but back then I had braces and a really bad weight problem. It was that I ate too much, it was more of the ladies would over feed me and I would gladly accept it because... food.

"Why would you even assume something like that dear? Your mother probably loves you and probably has a good enough reason why she wasn't in your life" Mrs. Castellano said softly. Her voice could have been as soft as ever but her sentence still angered me.

"If it was financial problems then she could have found a way to visit me, she could have did something better than sending me to a freaking orphanage. The only other explanation is that my parents are either dead or didn't want me"

Thinking about my parents being deceased kind of hurt. I didn't even get to see what they looked like and they're dead?

"Mr. Castellano, if you don't mind me asking, what does my mother look like exactly?" I asked him. He raised his hand to his chin and rubbed his growing beard.
