Chapter 6
Victoire Weasley

On Monday evening, Victoire slunked down to the library and met with her future father. She felt so awkward. She was thankful that Bill didn't seem to pick up on any of the awkwardness.

"What do you need the most help on?" she asked him

"I did real awful with the levitation charm so I have to practice that. I also, kinda argued with Flitwick a bit about it so he maybe might've told me I have to write an essay about the uses of it." The boy rambled on

"Okay," Vic said, processing all the information "Do you know what the uses are?"

"Yup!" he nodded eagerly "Mum and dad use it all the time." Vic felt a pang in her heart when she realised he was talking about her grandparents.

"Okay then." she swallowed hard "Why don't you get to work on that and I'll be here to help if you need it." Bill smiled at her and pulled out a piece of parchment from his bag.

Victoire rearranged her own parchments and checked for any homework she had. She inwardly cursed herself for her being so efficient and having finished it all over the weekend. She sat there awkwardly for a moment, twiddling her thumbs, before jumping up and announcing she was going to go look for a book. Bill looked at her a bit weird, but didn't say anything.

Vic perused the shelves in search of any book to cure her boredom. Her fingers trailed along the ancient spines of old spell books advertising just about anything she could think of. Her eye was drawn to a book with a cracking blue leather with a spine that read 'Time Travel and You' in faded black lettering. That's what she could do! Research how to get home! Perfect use of her free time. Bill might ask questions though. That wouldn't matter, she could play it off as just being interested in the subject as an extracurricular activity or future career option.

She pulled the book of the shelf and dusted off the cover. It looked as if no one had even bother to spare a glance at it in at least a decade. She opened the front cover and looked to the details and summary on the inside jacket. It had not details about the author or the publisher or even the year of publication. The summary was limited, stating only 'For use in finding one's way through the mystic reaches of time travel.'

Victoire frowned and made her way back to Bill and their table, eyes still glued to the summary.

"Whatcha frowning at?" Bill teased

"Oh nothing." Vic sighed as she closed the book "This book is just being vague and annoying"

"Who wrote it? Dumbledore?" he joked

"I wouldn't know." Victoire countered "No author marked obviously." she held up the cover for Bill to see.

"You should read it and see if it's said anywhere in the book." he shrugged, dropping his quill

"That was my plan for while you were working on your essay." she eyes the few sentences he had wrote

"Hey I'm a slow writer!" he threw his hands up in defence. Madam pince shot him a dirty look which he returned with an apologetic one.

"Then get to it." Vic smirked at the first year. He stuck his tongue out at him but got back to work anyways.

Vic opening the book again and started to read from the first chapter.

'The concept of time travel has always been one fantasized by both muggles and wizards alike. Wanted for the chance to go back to yesterday to fix a simple mistake, or to go back and meet those long deceased. It hadn't been managed for the longest time until the start of this century until the italian alchemyst, Giovanni Morani, invented the small device known as the time turner, able to take you back in time several hours at a time. Longer times, such as several day, months, or even years, had not been studied or even proven by any modern day devices. There has, however, been two multiple cases where an individual stated their modern day as half a century into the future, but sans plausible evidence, they were written off as several old crackpots.'

Well that was nothing more than Victoire already knew. She sure found it reassuring that the only times multiple year time travel was documented was from those thought to be crazy. There's a thought, maybe she and Ted were crazy and this was just a hallucinated shared dream. She shook her head and flipped several chapters ahead in the book.

'Multi-year time travel has of course been attempted by several wizards. None of which, however have been successful. Some rumors have surfaced from the Rocky Mountains in western to mid North America of a spell being developed to be casted on unbeknownst victims, sending them to the past anywhere from twenty to seventy years. Proof of such claims has not been demonstrated nor has it been approved under the Safe Spells Regulation Act of the UNWA (United Nations of Wizardingkind Alike)'

Another plausible theory, rather than just them being crazy, is this spell from the Rocky Mountains was cast upon Victoire and Teddy sending them from 2015 to 1997. But why? Vic rested her head on her elbow and stared down at the brick of words lining the page. Somehow, though they were all resting in plain form, the words seemed to get more and more confusing as time went on.

"That book any less confusing than the mysterious author?" Bill broke the silence between them.

"Not in the slightest." she pursed her lips. "I'm just going to forget this for now." she closed the book and put it in her bag for later reading "Let's help you with this spell casting." she smiled, pushing the whole concept of time travel.

(A/N: I'm actually so proud of this right now, like I really like this more than any other chapter in this book. I also came up with the best idea for a couple chapters in. It's really sad but it would make the story line that I already have in my head tie together nicely. Again, updates with be short for the next little bit (I'm sorry) but since it's the long weekend I was able to blow off homework to write this for you. If I'm lucky with my socials homework, I might get you another update but no promises. A FEW THANK YOUS- Omg 100+ reads?!?! When did this happen? Thank you so much! Also thanks to those of you who read my first time travel story (Thrown through time) because that had 1.1K reads and I'm freaking out cause I just saw it and that makes me SO happy. Wow long authors note... you're probably not even reading this... I'll let you go now. -Jul)
