Riley's POV.
I have a bad feeling about this, I can't do it. I won't be able to do it, and if I do, guilt will swallow me whole. If not guilt, the ground will. Whatever swallows me, I hope it does it as soon as I do it.
I take a deep breath and walk out to the kitchen where mom and dad were sitting.
"Mom. Dad."
Neither of them look up but they answer with a short yes. Good. If they don't look me in the eyes, I will be able to pull this off.
"I...I was um..can I–I sleep over at em..Maya's?" Stope stuttering!
"Why not? I mean, it is Monday and a school night but Katy will probably look after you." Mom says as she writes down a few things on a piece of paper. "Cory honey?"
"What? Yes, yeah you go, sweetheart. Have fun!" He didn't look up and I let out a sigh of relief.
"Thank you, guys! I love you, bye!"
I ran in to my room and took my stuff, shoving it into a backpack. It was just a few clothes for tomorrow in school, my pj's, brush and toothbrush. I didn't have to pack that much since I'll be staying over for just one night, so packing a whole wardrobe wouldn't be a good idea, now would it?
I stand still in the middle of my room, eyes on the door. "Okay Riley, you can do this. It's one party. One night with what Maya likes to call fun. Nothing more," I let out a long sigh. You can do this. You're a Matthews!
I start taking steps towards the door until I reach it and open it, "Half way."

The door opened and Katy stepped outside to greet me, "Riley!" She pulls me into a tight hug and I hug her back.
"Mrs. Hart!"
She pulls back to look my in the face only to make a grimace, "Riles, please call me Katy. I feel old with Mrs. Hart." She laughs and so do I.
Katy has always been a second mom to me like my mom has been to Maya. She has always been there for me, no matter what she always makes me feel better. Especially when she acts. Her acting skills are amazingly fun and she is really good. She always dreamed of being an actress but she never reached her dream since she and Maya didn't have enought money to live on. That's where we come in, my family. We helped them for a few years and now, they're good. They have a good house, clothes, jobs and education.
"Is Maya in?" I ask as I step inside the warmth of their small house. It was small but it was welcoming.
"Yeah, she's in her room. She told me Farkle will be her in about an hour," she walks over to the kitchen. "Here," she shouts and walks out with a plate filled with chocolate chip cookies. "Some snacks I made for you guys."
I smile at her, "You really didn't have to, Katy. Thank you so much." Once I grab the plate, the smell pierces in my nose. "They smell delicious."
"Thank you, Riley. Now, hurry up or you'll be late," she says with a wink and walks away.
Did Maya tell her?
I walk up the stairs and in to Maya's room.
She sees me and smiles, "Riley–" I cute her off.
"You told your mom that we're going to the party!?" I whine. If Katy knows, she will tell my parents and I will be grounded for a life time. Yay.
