Chapter 20

I reach the basement with Scott and Derek and open the door I run in and say

"I'm gonna find another way out, you hold them off."

I walk around looking out for another door. I can't find one and I can no longer find Derek and Scott. I hear two heartbeats that are approaching me I can't see anything so I glow my eyes just in time to see Boyd, he scratches my arm. I growl and then push him so he stumbles. Then he steadies himself and pushes me to the floor. I push myself up, but then something slams my head into the floor...

Derek's POV

"I'm gonna find another way out, you hold them off." Kenzie says.

I nod and wait for Boyd and Cora. Scott and I spray them with fire extinguishers. Once we confuse them, we run. I run out and slam the door behind Scott and I. They pound against the door and I hold it closed just in case they manage to get out, but soon enough they give up.

"Did that actually just work?" Scott asks,

I look at him,

"It worked."

I sit down in the corner leaning my body against the wall and closing my eyes as relief runs through my body. My heartbeat slows. Everyone is safe. I watch as Scott puts his ear to the door, listening for anything.

"What do you hear?"

"Heartbeats." He replies quickly.

"Both of them?"

I watch his eyes widen,

"Actually, three of them."

Mackenzie's POV

My head hurts really badly. The rabid wolves won't give up. I'm dead. I'm out of energy, I can't take on both of them, especially from my position on the floor. I can now feel pressure on my shoulders and a burning sensation in my stomach. I feel fangs wrap around my arm, causing me to scream. My head gets lifted up again. Then my head gets slammed to the floor and I'm slowly starting to lose consciousness. I feel blood pool around my head. The only thought running through my head is that,

I'm going to die.

Derek's POV

I snap my eyes open after hearing Scott's reply.

Mackenzie.

I get to my feet and listen for myself. Three heartbeats. One of the heartbeats is one I've heard far too many times. I hear a scream, it's filled with pain. I move further towards the door.

"What are you doing?" Scott questions.

"Close the door behind me and keep it shut."

"You go in there alone and you're either gonna kill them or they kill you."

I think it over. Me or them.

I turn back to face Scott,

"That's why I'm going in alone."

I open the door then go in.

Mackenzie's POV

I'm still getting beaten up, my heart is slowly decreasing and my breathing is getting heavier. I feel pain in my torso, but the thing is, it isn't mine.
