Jessica ^

Single

After six hours of band practice I went home, grabbed an apple and went up stairs to my room.
I clicked on Lilly's contact number in my phone.
She answered on the second ring.
That's true friendship right there.
I put it on speaker and bit in to my apple.
"Hello beautiful!"
"Hey pixie, how was your day?"
"Oh nothing much really except band practice.."
"Wait what band practice?!"
I smiled " yeah you know drums, keyboard, lead singer, music!"
She sighed" I know what a band is you doofus! But who's band are you in?"
"Drakes."
She snorted "why should I be surprised."
"Shut up." I laughed.
"Hey I'm not hating I'm just saying i shouldn't be surprised."

"Hey Amanda!"

"Was that Michael?"
"Yeah."
"Say hi for me!"
"She said hi." She deadpans.
I laughed taking another bite out of my apple.
"He said he, you know what screw this its going on speaker!"
M:"hey how is life treating you there?"
"Great..I miss you guys tho. It sucks not having you here!"
M:"I know we miss you too."
L:"you do a little too much."
M:"shut up Lilly!"
"What?" I knitted my brows together in confusion.
M:"nothing she just said she miss you a lot."
"Oh."
M:"yeah well we have to go we're doing a project for WHAP."
"OK bye."
M & L:"bye!"
The line went dead and I frowned.

Knock. Knock.
"Come in."
My dad opened the door smiling "I heard your in a band."
"Yeah?!"
"You know I used to be in a band, we were called the Ice Cubes. We were all the rage in Alaska. Did you know we were famous for a while."
"Really?"
"Yeah and then Stevens gold fish dyed it was tragic. He was eight it broke him, he was never the same...... The band broke up after that."
I tried to smother my laughter."that's horrible."
" yeah." He sighed "swimmer was a great gold fish."
He sat on my bed. "Poor Steven had to flush him down the toilet, no nice story's or even a proper burial."
"That's so sad."
My dad wiped a tear from his cheek.
"Uh..dad?!"
"Yeah?" He said looking over at me.
"You OK?"
"Yeah, yeah I'm fine." He smiled
I shook my head " did you watch finding nemo again?"
"No..."
"Dad."
He got up "nice talk." With that he walked away closing the door behind him.
I laughed.

As I sat in U.S history the teacher droned on about WW2. Axel sat in front of me reading and drake sat next to me texting. I looked around the room, no one was paying attention. I glanced at the clock hanging on the wall.
Will this class ever end?!
My phone buzzed in my pocket causing me to jump. I pulled it out to see it was Drake. I looked at him. He tapped his phone telling me to read it.
I looked at the text.
Drake♬:you want to go out with the guys and I tonight? We're going to a club.
Amanda: uh sure why not
I look over to see him mouthing yes!
I smiled and looked back towards the teacher. Propping my head on my hand I started to doddle on my worksheet.
Soon dozing off.

"Miss. Preston, Miss. Preston?"
My eyes shot open when there was a loud bang next to my head. Mr. Dington stared at me, a textbook in his hands.
"Miss. Preston the bell rang."
I looked around everyone else had left. Students started to come in for 4th period.
I stood up "sorry Mr. Dington"
I gathered my things and walked out of class, a few populars giggling at me.
I rolled my eyes and walked to my locker.
Shoving my books in my locker and closing it, I turned and ran into someone.
I looked up and smiled. "Hey drake."
"Hi." He grinned glancing down at my hand.
I look at my hand which is placed on his chest and I quickly pull it away and tuck it in my front pocket.
"Wanna walk to lunch with me?" He suggested "you don't have to"
I bit lip and smiled "yeah I'll walk with you."
"Great. So how do you like it here so far? Drake asked as we started walking.
"I like it, this place brings up a lot of memories."
"Like what?"
"Like when Axel and I went to the fair when we were nine, and Axel almost ate twenty things of cotton candy. He got so sick that night." I giggled thinking back.
"Sounds like something Axel would do." He said chuckling
"Yeah, most of my childhood was here. I was devastated when we moved, my parents thought it would be best after...." I looked down ant my shoes. "After chase died."
"I'm sorry."
I looked up at him "its OK he's in a better place."
We soon reached the huge cafeteria.
Axel jumped up yelling our names after we grabbed our food.
I smiled as I sat down.
"Amanda meet Jessica Waters." He said motioning to a pretty blonde girl next him. She smiled showing tiny dimples in her cheeks.
"Hi."
"Hi."
"Now Amanda your single right?!" Axel said eyeballing me.
"Um yeah." I said confused.
"Well you see Jessica needs someone to go to a party with her and non of us can go"
"OK so why did you need to know if I was single?"
"It's a singles party." He said like it was a stupid question.
"What about Drake?!" I said looking over at him.
Does he have a girlfriend?! Oh man.
"I have a family reunion that day."
I groaned mentally "what day is it?"
"Friday."
I smiled "that sounds perfect."
Jessica smiled "thank you, I hate going to parties alone."
"No problem."
