#6: How to; Cake in a Mug

A five minute cake in a mug is a very simple type of cake and can be whipped up at any time.

Ingredients

4tbsp Self-raising flour

4tbsp Sugar (any type of sugar)

2tbsp Cocoa Powder

1 Egg

3tbsp Milk

3tbsp Vegetable Oil

1tsp Vanilla essence/extract

1~2tbsp Choc-chips (optional)

5~10 minutes

Method

Step One

In a good sized mug mix together the self-raising flour, sugar and cocoa powder.

Step Two

Crack the egg and add it to the flour mixture.

Step Three

Add in the milk, vegetable oil and the vanilla essence

Step Four

Add in the chocolate chips (if desired)

Step Five

Mix everything thoroughly and place it into the microwave for a minute on high. Check if it is done by inserting a wooden skewer or butter knife into it. If it isn't place it back into the microwave and heat it on 15 second burst until it is done.

Step Six

Tips

Be patient. Don't overcook your cake, it might burn.

I once didn't have milk in the house when I wanted to make this so I replaced the mile with 1 tablespoon of powdered milk and 2 tablespoons of water. It turned out pretty well, but nothing beats the flavour of whole milk.
