#35: How to; Stop Procrastinating

If you know how it feels to not be able to get something done due to the lack of motivation, you know what it feels like to procrastinate. You've got a dead line, a project due - a massive assignment, you have to get done asap, but then there's tons of better things to do like watch television, go shopping or party harrdy. But you know you have to do it, you just have to do it but then again you just can not be bothered. Many people leave things to the last minute and regret it terribly, in the future it will lead to you not wanting to do work and getting fired. Sounds bad? Yeah I know..

Well, It is easy to overcome procrastinating when you read my tutorial/ listen to me.. okay it's easy if you put your mind to it.

Here's what you can do:

1. Make a to-do list: By making a to do list you will be not only more organised but atleast know what you have to get done. You should list all the major things you have to do such as; an upcoming science test, etc. You should list the things according to what is more important/ needs to be done soon, this way you will know what you need to have done first.

2. Give yourself a break: If you're doing a task you don't really like; such as studying for a math exam {which ovbiously no one enjoys doing, ew} be sure to give yourself a little bit of break time. If you've done an hour of studying for your test or finished studying a whole chapter {which is pretty impossible, I mean it's math - no no no} then give yourself a ten minute break to watch television or have a quick snack.

3. Break up your work into parts: If you have got like a really boring project or something that you don't even want to do because even thinking about it is too much hard work then why don't break it down? What I mean is if you've got a huge assignment which has like a billion parts to it then just part all the billion parts into seperate little baby parts - trust me it makes it easier. I know, who can even be bothered doing a part everyddaaaay when you can just rush the whole thing in the one night before its due? Well it just makes it waay easier, so try it. It really works.

4. Remember your end goal: Yes! Girls, remember that year 9 math test your suppose to be studying for it'll determine whether you're going to be a doctor in the future or a toilet cleaner. {Yeah, I don't know myself, my dad's logic} Anyways the point is just remember what you're doing it will benefit you in the future, I mean it sounds stupid now, but twenty years into the future you'll be kissing me for telling you this, srsly.

5. Look for inspiration: Wait what? Inspiration for cough studying or doing chores, um no. I know this is stupid but look up to some one who has achieved something great, or even your parents. Look where they are now, I mean they probably didn't do nothing to become the amazing people they are today. Okay you know what I mean they probably studied alot, {well yeaa, they didn't even have t.v's back then, what else would they do other than study? Go out side and play - yeah no.}

6. Stop making everything so complicated: OHMYGOD, JUST SHUT UP AND DO WHAT EVER YOU HAVE TOO, LIKE SRSLY, STAHHP COMPLAINNING. Jokes, but really you need to stop thinking studying for one math test is worse than rocket science. I mean come onn, just cleaning the dishes it'll only take like idk like five minuttees. {never even done them} Just remember it'll all be over soon enough just do what you have to & then eat alot of chocolate and listen to happy music because I'm sure all that was hard work!

7. Change your working environment: I doubt studying at the zoo {also known as a house which contains one too many annoying younger siblings which most definatly need to be trained like asap} will make it easier for you to study. And then you've got your annoying parents screaming at you for not being able to study, Goddd. So if you've got a zoo for a house I suggest you take all your animals, woops I meant siblings to the vet.. woops I meant doctor, uhm I meant just go to the library.

8. Get a buddy: Become friends with your history teacher, I bet you he'll make sure you finish that history assignment before you go out to party. Okay, maybe you can just buddy up with a friend that gets work done.. have them push you {litrally - push you down the stairs, fine. it was only a suggestion anyways..} okay so push you as far as you need them to make you finish your work.

9. Get rid of distractions: Turn off your phone, throw out all your technology out your door and lock it, turn off the wifi, cage your siblings [it is completly necessary] and ofcourse get rid of anything at all that distracts you. This will help you concentrate and get things done faster.

10. Try the five minute plan: If you really don't want to do whatever it is you have to then try the five minute plan. So basically you tell yourself that you'll only do what ever it is for five minutes if you are completely dyyyinng - meaning you still hate it, then you can stop. If however you don't mind then keep going. Studies have like shown that if you start something and do it for five minutes you are much more likely to continue doing it.
