Two weeks pass and I've become quite handy with the dagger.
I'm mostly with Cole or Cara and her friends-Jay, Rhonda, Clamentine, Jamie and Edgar.

I haven't spoken to Grandma at all except for a few sentences and I've only had glimpses of the Commander.

When I'm not with Cole or Cara, I usually help out with the cooking.

"Oi." I say to Cole, I point into the clearing which has become our usual hinting spot.

A small animal is crouched in the clearing.

I raise and fling my dagger which buries itself in the animal.

A small victory.

It took me a few weeks to get used to the gore.

We head into the clearing and I extract my dagger as Cole shoves the animal in his omnipresent sack.

I'm waiting for him when I glimpse the dark blur I had seen the first rime I came here.

But this time, the blur doesn't disappear.

I move towards it to get a better look.
"Lisa." Cole scolds.

I glare at him and focus my gaze between the trees.

About a hundred meters away is a beach.

I would have been fascinated if not for the people on the shore arriving by objects floating on the water.
Grandma called them boats.

"Lisa,"Cole calls out again.
He comes over and watches from behind me, his breath tickling my ear.
His eyes widen at the sight.

He swears,"Lisa." He says softly, the way you would talk to a wounded child,"we have to run."

"Run?! Why?"

"Questions later, we run. Now."he points in another direction,"That way, I'll be right behind you."

"Cole...?"

"Go." His voice is firm.

I turn and run.

As far as I remember, we're deep in the woods, but if I run straight I should reach camp.

I am a few minutes deep when I hear light steps behind me.

I looks over my shoulder and see Cole.

I relax.

"Don't slow."he says.

I huff ad push myself to move faster.
We've been running for almost fifteen minutes when the camp finally appears ahead.

I ignore Cole's words and slow down.
Cole hurries ahead after telling me to wait outside the Commander's tent.

I sit on a bench outside the Commander's tent.

Cole is inside.

My gasps for air are all I can hear.

I look up as the tent opens and the Commander walks out followed by Cole.

The Commander nods in my direction and head off.

Cole places himself beside me.

"Cole, what's happening?"

"Afrikans."

I've heard of them. They live on the Afrikan continent.

"So?" I ask.

"Lisa." He sighs,"They might be bringing an army."
