Colony Six: Military Division

Raven watched amused as her sister followed closely behind the Halo soldier Nathaniel to the black SUV. She couldn't help but wonder if her sister was running to get as far away from the military district as soon as possible or if she was running to be close to Nathaniel. Knowing her sister it was probably both. Grinning to herself she was sure her older sister had a little crush on the stone-faced soldier.

she couldn't understand Annika's obvious attraction to him. Sure, he was built like one of those greek gods that she had read about in the history books, but everything else about him screamed to run away or die. That man looked like he had no soul. His eyes had a dead look to them and his face...it was just plain scary looking. Yet, Annika had stared at him like he was some kind of master art piece. Shaking her head in wonder, Raven came to the conclusion her sister was just plain crazy.

Still, it shocked and thrilled her that her sister showed an interest in the man. Shocked because she knew how much Annika hated soldiers-especially Halo soldiers. So for her to be love-struck by one shocked her. Thrilled because she was happy that sister was not a carpet muncher. She had begun to wonder. Annika had shown no reaction to men she met before other than disgust or hate for them. So, if her sister wanted the evil-looking giant she was all for it. But she would be in for a surprise when she got nowhere with him.

Everyone knew the Halo's were off limits. Shit, if you even looked at them with lustful intentions in mind you would be cut down so fast you would be at the judging gates wondering how the fuck you got there. Even though she herself knew the laws and rules about them she -just like her sister- couldn't help but be drawn to one.

Christian was everything she had ever wanted in a man. He stood six feet giant compared to her five feet midget. A head full of flaming red hair that was so red that she could use it as a torch in any dark cave. She wondered if she touched it would it burn her hand? Next was her favorite feature that instantly mean her melt... Green eyes. They were so deeply green that they looked like real emeralds. Expect they were two kinds of greens that were blended together. Dark and light greens that could hypnotize any poor soul to slavehood. Raven was caught in those mesmerizing traps but she gathers her wits quickly. She would be no man's slave.

Not this time around. This time, she will be the sorceress that enchanted. Never again would a man fool her. Use her. Steal from her. No. Never again would she be that ignorant. She was stronger now. Wiser. More Cunning. Heartless.

He made her this way.

He forced her to see the world for what it truly was. To see people as they really were. All fairy tales about love and hope were just that. Fairy tales. Love was myth told to silly little girls who had yet to grow up and experience the harsh realities of life. Once upon time Raven had believed in fairy tales. Wanted a strong and handsome prince to save her like in the Cinderella story she loved to read. Two years ago she thought she had met her prince. He had been her savior when she had been in a rough spot. He had been chivalrous putting all other men to shame. He had been charming and charisma. He had always found ways to impress her. Not to mention beyond handsome.

But all of it was a lie. He was just a smooth talker. Talk her into doing many things that at the time didn't seem so bad. But those things were bad and the consequence was dire. To dire to tell her family. If they knew what she had done. The people that had been hurt. The lives that were taken. They would hate her. It was a secret that she planned to take to her grave.

After he had taken everything from her, he just disappeared. Months she waited for him at their secret spot; only to be heartbroken each time he didn't arrive. Raven grew cold and bitter hiding behind a mask of happiness. She couldn't let her family see her pain and hate; they would ask questions. Questions she couldn't answer. So day after day she smiled, joked and flirted, acted like nothing had changed. When in truth everything had changed. Nothing would ever go back to normal for her.
