I am going to link an article in the comments that will tell the whole story, but I will summarize it here: Wattpad has banned all, ahem, 18+ content from the site, and they've been taking down books containing such material because I guess they figured out that people can lie about their ages. THEY HAVE ALSO WARNED PEOPLE AGAINST RPING IN THEIR PMS, WHICH MEANS THEY HAVE BEEN LOOKING THROUGH PEOPLE'S PRIVATE MESSAGES. WHICH IS ILLEGAL.
That's only half the horror, however.
They have been taking down books, but mainly books with yaoi, yuri, boyxboy and girlxgirl tags and titles. Straight 18+ rps and I guess regular books are being passed over, as of now. Which means the yaoi and yuri tags are being targeted instead of tags like the word "nsfw". I get that yaoi at least has a negative connotations, but just boy x boy? even the innocent books with this in the title? WHYYYYYY
Also this I don't know a lot about but apparently wattpad had an lgbt+ account that they shut down. edit, it actually is still here.
This is just inexcusable.
I am going to tag and title my long-forgotten steven universe one shot book yuri and girl x girl and see what happens.
