"We went up to the roof of the building last night; it was a full moon and O recently reminded me that even though we've been free for a year, she hardly ever got to see the sky. For years, she was locked away and rarely got to see the sun, let alone the full moon. Despite the city's light pollution, it was still a beautiful night sky. We brought a blanket, lied back on the roof and tuned out the city noises. O rested her head on my chest and we remained there long after she fell asleep. I knew she'd slipped off long before I got up and brought her back home; but there was something so strangely peaceful about being out in the open with her like that. We've been keeping ourselves secret for so long, and while we weren't around anybody that night, it still felt as though we were okay with going out in the world now, to strive for the normalcy."
